Here is something that was said in my link: The reason market share is important is that mobile is a "platform market." In platform markets, third-party companies build products and services on top of other companies' platforms. As they do, the underlying platforms become more valuable and have greater customer lock-in.
Building products and services for multiple platforms is expensive, so platform markets tend to standardize around a single leading platform. As they do so, the power and value of the leading platform increases, and the value of the smaller platforms collapses.
The PC software market is (or was) a platform market, and we saw how powerful that eventually made Microsoft back in the 1990s.

Gsmarena why don't you tell the facts and figures for the whole year not just Q4 of 2012 but whole of 2012 Let's see the figures which really matter not just a specific period. Then the truth will come out which shows the real winner!

Losing market share isn't important if company can sell more products than before. Apple can make record sells after quarter after quarter and still lose marketshare, because Apple is one company android is not.
Last q Apple profit in china raised 400% so it means Apple doing better than ever in china.

There are only 3 phones on the market running on iOS (iPhone 4, 4S and 5), while almost every Samsung, Sony, HTC, LG, Huawei, Acer, etc runs on Android.

And here I was thinking that I bought an iPhone cause it looks, feels and works smoothly.

i dont think shipments mean anything we have 20 of each iphone sat in out stockroom doesnt mean people our buying s3 +s3mini sell the most in my store

apple only copy samsung as being number 1 at selling phone
samsung have idea first and become number 1 at selling phone
apple copy by forcing many people to purchase apple phone and now become number 1 when apple complain samsung copy apple but apple copy samsung by being number one.
apple need to rethink and not copy samsung sales figures, everyone complain samsung copy apple but now it apple that copy samsung.

Have you seen how small iOS is compared to Android worldwide and in China?
China have over 1.3 billion peoples and over 90% of all smartphones in China are Android phones. Only 4.2% are iOS devices in China lol.

Well its not surprise apple sells more than ever and people love their iProducts and spread the word and more and more iOS users comes every day.

I could use this argument and turn it the other way round as well. That people who buy android/samsung thinks of themselves as part of an elite IT geeky group that customises their phone, cause tweaking is the cool and mainstream thing now that makes you feel so elite and above everyone else. In other words, tweaking a phone suddenly makes little people feel like big man, when in fact they're probably no one. Everyone buys a Samsung cause hey why the hell not? It's the most mainstream thing now, hence they just follow the biggest crowd.

Its no secret that iPhone is the world's best selling smartphone!
Out sold Nokia, BB, WP, Nexus and even Galaxy combine!
2013 will mark Apple as one trillion dollar company.
At the rate Apple is going, by 2020 Apple will profit one trillion dollar per year!
That will take MS or Google another 200 years.

Who still sell 3g, if i know correct also only us sells or give 3gs free. In my country, cheapest iPhone is iPhone 4 with 8gb memory. And even that is medium price, cost more than sgs2.
So i would say apple doesnt have low price phone.

iphone has been years behind android for awhile now. they simply dont care. apple tells you how to live and what to buy, and their customers follow. In photos the screen size still looks like a joke.

In other words, little people who believe that owning an iphone makes them seem bigger and more popular than they really are. The iphone more of a fashion statement anything else.
