iOS market share ticks up at the end of 2022, Android down slightly

13 December 2022
During Q4 of this year the success of the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max have boosted iOS market share. Android still hovers above the 70% mark, though.

Anonymous, 13 Dec 2022Why does that graph start at 20% and end at 80%? 🤔Use critical thinking. After knowing that Android is 70%-ish and Apple is 30%-ish, how can something else be up at the 100%-ish mark?

While I still strongly prefer Android over iOS, I worry about Android's direction.

iOS: Doubling down on what makes it great and adding customization

Android: Trying to become locked down like iOS and removing customization

No wonder iOS is slowly gaining market share.

Also, we're changing the UI of some of our apps so it's simpler to use! (Read: removing half the options and making it take more clicks to do the same thing) Our market share will shoot up now! [Proceeds to lose 5% market share the next year]

Enthusiasts, 13 Dec 2022In simple terms every year apple iphones keeps outperformi... moreApple supports their devices for 6 to 7 years but their hardware often don't make it past 3 years. After 3 years of use, battery life is so bad that it can't even make it through the day. Mine and some other friends' iPhones had hardware issues within 1 year of purchase, like not able to charge while connected to official cable (tried with multiple cables but to no avail), lag issues, screen defects, etc.

For security, iOS markets itself to have the best software security in the competition. However there are reports about zero day vulnerabilities, fourth time in this year alone. And which cybersecurity standards does Apple follow? No standards published in their website, so can how to believe its claim?

Android phones such as Samsung and Google are fast following Apple's footsteps.

Only Huawei EMUI, Harmony OS, HMS follows internationally recognized cybersecurity standards. And Huawei phones hardware outlast any other phones, even phones such as Mate 10 and P10 from 5 to 6 years ago are still being sold. Software maintains fluidity for years, no lag no stutter. Battery life is amazing with 5 year phones still able to last for 6 to 7 hours screen on time.

Miss Symbian as well as MeeGo - here Mcirosoft cleverly installed Stephen Elop (Trojan horse) in Nokia and caused a disaster - the largest drop in Nokia's stock price in history. Microsoft took over the Nokia phone department for pennies and then closed the smartphone project itself in a moment. WP was hopeless - closed system, no support (twice they left people in such a young OS no updating), no many apps and developer interest.
If Nokia had become independent it wouldn't have abandoned MeeGo and try for real Android. Nokia had its own music system - like today's Google/Apple/Spotify much earlier, they had excellent maps, e-mail.
