iOS market share ticks up at the end of 2022, Android down slightly

13 December 2022
During Q4 of this year the success of the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max have boosted iOS market share. Android still hovers above the 70% mark, though.

Android users are often accused of piracy and people like you are the reason.

In simple terms every year apple iphones keeps outperforming flagship Android phones so it's no surprise that the already released iPhone 14 pro and max variants
Will outperform the yet not released android flagship phones powered by the yet not released Qualcomm snapdragon 8 gen 2 chip. And add to than apple iphones
Get 6 or 7 years of iOS software updates vs Android only 4 years at most. Add to that apple iphones are more secure and hacker resistant vs Android phones. Add to that iphones smoother performance and higher benchmark performance vs Android phones. So to sum it up, iphones are clearly superior to Android phones.

I use Flud + a VPN app (to avoid annoying emails) to download movies and TV shows from PirateBay. But we also have Amazon Fire TV Stick that's jailbroken and we have practically every channel we want for $30 per month for two TVs. I also use Regal Unlimited Plus during the warmer seasons to watch every big summer movie.

"Apple is gaining ground in the mobile market due to its focus on customer experience, innovative designs, and quality products. With the introduction of its new flagship iPhone 14 Pro Max, Apple has given itself a competitive edge and attracted more users to its platform. Android is losing market share in key markets like China due to its lack of innovation and fragmentation, which have caused customers to switch over to Apple.”

If not just create a file and name it. And download the roms. Extract it and put it in that file for that console. Some require a BIOS or its optional. Look up Mr.Sujano for the best emulators. The bios are easy to find. And the games as well. I use romsgames.net but theres others too.

How does that work with scoped storage? Is it a pain to manage your files or does it work fine if you throw everything in something like the documents folder?

Apple's prices definitely have crept up, but I would say the past few years where the prices were closer to Android flagships have been more of an exception than the rule. I think most people are already fairly entrenched in the OS they like, but there are still a lot of people who probably wanted iPhones that just couldn't afford them. Eventually they will be able to afford them at some point.

Some might find it too expensive now days as well. I've had 2 iOS devices, the first was the OG iPod Touch. It was a solid product at a time when the web browser experience on Android was still pretty poor. The other is the iPad Mini 6, I like the size of it, and it's fast, but outside of that, it's probably the most disappointing tech product I have ever bought. But it's mainly because I don't like iOS than a problem with the hardware itself.

Super Android 22, 13 Dec 2022I'd honestly agree ios atm is better than one ui and s... moreYes, if they want to mimic Apple so bad then why not just switch to iOS? I don't see Android getting better, only worse. They say it's for "privacy" like restricting accessibility apis from sideloaded apps yet malware still finds ways around it? Doesn't sound like privacy to me. In fact, I am consenting to install the app, as well as enable the app's accessibility features. Also, if you are using a sideloaded FOSS app, it would likely have more privacy than the apps on the play store anyways. Even if I stay on Android 11, I suffer. Apps that rely on those restrictive new things like scoped storage like with Minecraft, which worked FINE on older versions of the game! Some apps have stretch scroll even while I am still on Android 11!

As for OneUI, another funny thing that I realized is that I remember a toy camera having "Normal" and "Fine" quality options. How about a thousand dollar phone? You only can change the aspect ratio. You can't change your resolution anymore in the stock camera app. Why? Probably to fill the storage up more which you can't upgrade so you would be implied to use cloud storage. At least you can change video resolution and framerate, but I wonder how long it would be for that to be gone as well?

I still go for android as the winner. I can download a youtube version that has no ads, no need to pay. I can play ps2, psp, gamecube, and so on games on my phone through emulation. I can download movie and tv show apps free with no ads and payment. I can even get any app on playstore for free. By going on google and typing the app name and atthe end i type APK. And now i have it for free. Android gives way more freedom than iphone. On iphone u cant do any of this. You have to pay to remove ads on youtube by force. And no emulation, and no apps that give u movie and tv shows and anime free. And if its illegal then maybe google should be shut down. They the ones giving it to me so 🤷🏻.

It started nosediving after 4.0 in my opinion. 4.1 even feels unfinished. Here is just one thing: On One UI 3.1, I can drag my finger only partially down to see only a couple of my notifications and then drag them back up. On One UI 4, you need to drag it pretty much all the way down. The brightness slider looks worse and notification icons are all the same and it looks weird, notifications aren't grouped anymore and they each have rounded corners which is probably more taxing to render, it just feels... off. It doesn't help that One UI 5 literally traps the app icons in orbs and gives it one solid color.

Pixel is the worst for it, its literally trying to be ios but fails in most areas/feels like some knock off ios with barely working features.

If you want just top class software support go iPhone over Samsung or Google devices (it's clearly what they are trying to focus on), if you want something different with unique features/more flexible with feature set then go any other android maker than Samsung and Google, you'll also have more consistent and not broken hardware too. (Huawei used to be the best by miles but we saw how America hates Chinese brand success)

Understandable. Android tries to get restrictive like iOS while still being clunky Android and they will switch to iOS. This is coming from an Android 11 user that is considering iOS when I replace my phone when Play Store apps and stuff don't support Android 11 anymore. I hate Android 12 and up. Scoped storage is stupid if the user can't do anything to allow an app to use whatever area they want (I know there are probably ways around this but it's the fact that it's intended to restrict me which is a problem). I couldn't figure out how to let any app read a single folder from my Micro SD card. I HAVE to use my internal storage and only in specific folders btw like the documents folder. I can't simply make a folder in the root file system and put stuff in there for an app to access. Look at Minecraft: It's harder to navigate all the way over to the data folder and google only wants you do use their built-in stock file manager when I don't want to. I hate material you and apps are starting to migrate to it and I hate it, I can't disable the bounce scroll animation without first disabling literally all other animations. Stuff looks more padded and the fonts look more bold and gross, icons aren't shaded anymore and have a dumb outline on it which makes me barely tell them apart, I don't know anymore. I would prefer iOS more than stock android and I am getting more sick of One UI with every update.
