Do you know how much samsung smartphone devices exist all over the world? Low, Mid and high end? I guess Gsmarena had an article about that fact a few months ago. If they do that they will lose sales for other OS...they can't afford ditch the best google representative, unfornately for them, it's Samsung! The best they can do is elevating the game and make an even better smartphone with the right marketing.
I don't think that demanding consumers buying phone X thru Google Play is the best tactic to compete with samsung although being able to create your own demands on the phone!
They have to put the phone in every retailer and carrier in every country and bet on creative marketing. Only that way they will have a chance to sell more...theoretically of course.

The Motorola X huh? Interesting. Hardware customization sounds very good. But one week waiting time is too short to be true, maybe they forgot to say 'in the US' Anyway, I'd wait up to a month for it if it's worthy.
I haven't seen with much interest the 5 or so best Motorola smartphones because of their custom UI. I just didn't like Motorola's UI ever since V3, but I do liked their build desing. Their UI has always looked to me like..outdated, had no beauty, like if the external desing was the pretty sister and the UI was the ugly sister. A pity. I hope Google can change this.
Btw, I read in The Verge, some important person from Qualcomm said they are not worried because they will easily beat Tegra 4 with their Snapdragon 800. That sounded so cool to me as I'm fond of Qualcomm, because of their power and proved endurance, basically. And since then I'm -almost- decided to wait till a Sony flagship with Snapdragon 800 chipset is released and not to upgrade my Xperia Pro yet to the all beautiful Xperia Z. Yup, as my Xperia Pro is doing so, so well I'm not in the hurry. What do you think guys? Good decision? They may release a revised Z or another but with Snapdragon 800 in not too much time. :-)

I've been waiting for the x phone. Moto makes excellent hardware, but they're support is awful. I am really put off by the thought that Motorola is going to be in control of the os update process. I mean, it's better then leaving it to the carrier, but I was already burned by moto with my atrix 2. I may get a nexus now just because I find it unacceptable to only get one os upgrade.

Hardware customization and Delivered within one week... how is this supposed to happen?! That might work for a few countries with local manufacturing... I hope it won't end up as it is with the automotive industry where you have to wait forever for a customized car

I had the razr xt910 for an year-great phone,never had problems,design,specs,etc.but i sold it a month ago...i was dissapointed in point of customer care.motorola left the european model without JB update...now i got nexus 4...in great phone,always latest software.i'm realy satisfied.i'll never buy a MOTO again ,because of that fact!!

AnonD-122289, 17 Mar 2013It's not new but... there is something between Samsung and ... moreNot because of google jealous of Samsung, it is because Samsung started to push google around & ask for loop sided deal, they though google need them, but in reality they need google more, eventually google got piss off & decide to kick them out of the picture, S4 is probably the last of Samsung success, Tizen might just be another Bada or Symbian.
Samsung is going down for sure.
