LG even tried doing their own Project Ara with Friends. How is that not an innovation? If no one ever done something before, that is called innovation. HTC died because they wanted to play by Apple's rules and tricks without being Apple at all.

They were the first notorious OEM to jump onto ditching the 3.5mm jack (HTC U11) and even bragged about it lol. Nevermind the pricing and the support for such devices. Trying to replace a battery was a matter of finding said battery replacement AND opening up the device that had a shit ton of glue inside. Pretty bad honestly.

The good part was their skin and software, but little by little they started shutting everything down, and when they pulled out of the US, the writing was pretty much on the wall

Oki, 10 Apr 2023When Htc and Lg left the market that's when innovation... moreHow exactly were HTC and LG innovating? I owned the HTC One M7 and M8. I owned the LG V20 and still own the G5. So a different form factor like foldables ISN'T innovating? You want the same-looking boring slabs?

HTC Ones had a huge forehead and chin but people get all nostalgic about it. If the iPhone SE 2022 has this, it gets ridiculed because it looks like the iPhone 8 and SE 2020. If the iPhone SE 2016 is the same as the 5S, it's still praised.

LG tried innovating with the G5. It failed. Nobody wanted innovative products from them. My HTC One M7 had the purple photos. My M8 had sound distortion from the BoomSound.

HTC's and LG's QC during their good ol' days from 2013-2016 were crap. G4 and V10 suffered from bootloops. I hated Samsung for years during those times. They're still way better than HTC and LG in their primes. HTC and LG had the worst customer service experience ever.

People can go ahead and reminisce about phones a decade ago, but the truth is, HTC and LG are gone for a reason. Nobody bought them. They took themselves out of the market. Can't blame Samsung or Apple for their demise. Blame HTC and LG for their own demise.

It's similar to people blaming Sony or the PS2 for the Dreamcast's demise. It's Sega's own fault. Nobody else's. You can still use an iPhone 5S in 2023 with only 1 GB RAM but you can't say the same for an HTC One M7 or LG G2 with 2 GB RAM.

I personally have grown tired of collecting phones especially old phones from a decade ago. I'm better off collecting gaming handhelds which ages much better than smartphones. The smartphone revolves around planned obsolescence.

My modded Vita slim is still used daily. Amazing for a 2011-2013 product. Can't say the same for any smartphone released those years. I see a used Sega Nomad go for $250. A product from 1995. A 3DS from 2011 still goes for $200. But you won't see an iPhone 4S, BlackBerry Bold 9900, or Xperia Play for the same price.

Once a smartphone turns 5 to 7-years-old and stops getting updates, they become worthless. While people still buy handhelds that came out during the 90s.

Basically HTC is like a zombie brand now. It died, but it came alive without a soul.

Is a shame ZTE got their wings cut and HTC crashes themselves. Both brands were really different from the competition along LG.
