andibad, 14 Apr 2023Big upgrade, but still use usb 2.0? LoLIkr. It's about time Xiaomi ditch it for good and start putting USB 3.1 or 3.2 with video output.

So the IMX858 is the sensor Honor use for the 3.5x zoom telephoto camera on the Magic5 Pro? Bring it on!

Anonymous, 13 Apr 2023Xiaomi has stated many times about 80% of their devices sol... moreKeep in mind these numbers included the Lite versions which were the majority of their sales, but I agree.

For over 750$ phones, Apple wins by far as they sell above 60% of premium phones, Android is under 40% from which Samsung sells like 80-85% in Android premium phones.

The other 15-20% which are not Samsung are all of the other brands combined and Pixel is number 2 so I agree even those 3 brands don't sell 2 million worldwide. Even in China the number 1 most sold premium brand is Apple by very far.

[deleted post]Yeah I agree... the Xiaomi 13 Pro failed so hard and the basic price is 1.300€ here in Germany lol, this fails on the same aspects and it will be even more expensive.

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra has bigger cons even than Honor or Oppo, and very far from Samsung or Apple. Reality check!

Super Android 22, 14 Apr 2023Here is a couple of fun facts :- samsungs best selling f... moreCool story bro but we're talking about flagship sales, also the vast majority of chinese brand sales come exclusively from China. If we stick to flagships, Samsung sells 80-85% of Android flagships and Apple sells 2x times more flagships.

If you look at foldable phones sales, Samsung sold millions with almost 90% of the market cap worldwide.

Super Android 22, 13 Apr 2023Simple answer, samsung make more phones and sell in more ma... moreHe's a f00l but he got a point.

Out of all people spending over 200 bucks on an Android phone, only 1% have the knowledge to do it correctly. 2/3 of people have an iPhone, 1/3 of people have an crappy Android because they can't afford an iPhone, and 90% of people will never spend big bucks on any Android because they're convinced it won't match the iPhone anyway.

That's the world we live in.

As to whether or not China bred devices are worth it, just look at what happened to Huawei for stealing the stop spot for a few weeks. Better devices for sure. Cheaper as well. Make sense they would beat Sammy and Captain Cook. So let's remove GMSs and see how they do.

That's why Chinese OEMs are now a lot more reluctant to import juicy stuff to EU & US. Just look at the recent X6 Pro. Would crush the ever boring S23U for sure if it were to be imported.

Samsung S23 Ultra wins the Xiaomi 13 Pro in all camera aspects except for short range zoom, but 1-3x and especially after 10x Samsung wins by a long shot.

Also better UW and main camera because of the ISP (dynamic range control, exposure control, saturation control, video, stabilization) and much better selfie too.

PS: GSMArena will you post any update on the fact MIUI got even more bloatware with their March 2023 update? All ranges, even the Xiaomi 13 Pro. Pure comedy!

Super Android 22, 14 Apr 2023Here is a couple of fun facts :- samsungs best selling f... moreFun fact: You have to mix 3 different brands to surpass Samsung alone, yet the best fact is the S22 series sold +30 million and the S23 is projected to sell at least 40 million so even if we use the worst numbers, that's still at least 10 times more than all of the Chinese flagship numbers.

For every Chinese brand high-end phone (+700€) sold, and we are counting 5 brands, Samsung sells 10 premium phones and Apple sells 20-25 premium phones.

Oh dear and right now no one spends more in advertising and marketing than Oppo does. At least in Europe. They are the main sponsors of the UCL and they were World Cup supporters together with Vivo. Basically any Western European country is filled with Oppo propaganda on buses, metro, stadiums... and they barely reach 5% of the total sales from which 90% are the cheapest possible like A54s and A74 lol.

Anonymous, 13 Apr 2023Xiaomi has stated many times about 80% of their devices sol... moreHere is a couple of fun facts :-

samsungs best selling flagship were the s3 series with 70 mill, next is s4 series with 70 mill, then s7 series with 55 mill. The next "modern" samsung flagship series that sells "well" vs total produced units was the s10 series with 37 million, s20 series was 28 mill, s21 series was 13 million (last 2 are less than 10% total devices sold by samsung. The s22 and s23 series are even worse statically).

samsung roughly produce 50-70 mill of their current flagship devices each year with actual sales being 200-300 mill total combined units of all their phones which we know 10% or less is their flagship series dependant on year.

Another fun fact is samsungs best selling phones in the past 4 years have been low end A series phones with the mid range A series just behind (20-30 million units sold for most of the A series devices each), the J series and the grand prime and core counterparts join the ranks with most sold samsung devices at 15-30 mill (something their flagships havent done in 2 years now).

Another fun fact, oppo has sold more than 100 million units for the last 6 years, xiaomi breaking 140 mill for multiple years and the top 5 consist of 3 chinese brands (currently xiaomi, oppo and vivo, used to be huawei, oppo and xiaomi). Currently xiaomi is at 153 mill for 2022 so 20% of that has to be phones costing more than £200 which is about 30.6 mill units. 2021 they sold 190 mill units, oppo at 143 mill and vivo at 131, thats 274 mill units from oppo and vivo combined (BBK) vs samsung at 272 mill.

You are correct with past huawei flagships, some of them have out sold samsungs ( vs numbers the last 2 generations of flagships have sold) aswell and even the likes of the note 8 so will have out sold oppo/xiaomi flagships. (possibly not all of BBk companies combined though)

So A. Samsung dont sell a lot of their flagships BUT do produce way more flagship devices and spend way more on advertising and marketing than basically everyone else while selling in every market available and B. Their best selling phones are the sub £250 phones and have been for many years now with their sub £500 taking 2nd place, most of the time (s20 series was last generation to atleast match samsungs budget phones).

I would be shocked if xiaomi, vivo and oppo together can sell more than 2 million units of phones that cost over $750.

While Huawei used to sell over 12 millions of P and Mate combined before the ban.
Probably still sells way more than other chinese.
