M3 should have a major improvement over M2.. right now, in my case, i prefer to choose MBA M1 over M2 because the performance gain isn't significant but the price gap is kinda big. Now i'll wait for M3 Macbook to see if worth the price.

MacBook is a name for a series of laptops made by Apple.

For instane, you have HP or Lenovo.
      HP Envy
      Lenovo Ideapad
      Apple MacBook.

You can run any operating system of your choice.

Apple's laptops have no competition in terms of quality, reliability and durability, pro studio type audio chipsets, incredible trackpads, enterprise wifi cards and expandability to external monitors.

Why would you buy a crappy laptop from other brands who will never have that kind of trackpad or audio quality?

You can run Windows from XP to the latest 11 on a Mac.
You can run any Linux and any other system.

There is a program called Parallels that let you run all natively and seamlessly into one session.

And it runs Windows 11 faster than Microsoft's own Surface laptops.

MacBook is just brand name, it is a PC.

MacBoook doens't mean => You are only buying MacOS.

Get it right and make better choice, don't waste money on other brands of laptops

Macs are actually the best windows laptops.

So, the M3 will have a "base M2pro" configuration (six big + 4 efficient) but with newer cores?

              Meaning the base M3pro will have 8B + 4l and the binned M2pro and MAX 10B + 4 little.

It took a couple of years of testing and designing M1 an laptops with tablets, thus the products were great.
M2 was NOT designed in that way, so naturally it was a flop.
And now Apple plans to release Macbook Air 15" with processor everyone know is a flop. It is not just like shooting yourself in a leg, it is also taking a long time aiming into it before shooting....

Mac is powerful but very limited compared by Windows. If you are a basic user then Mac is OK for you. But if you like to customize everything and do everything you want Windows is the best. I'd rather pay 5000 dollars for a Windows laptop. It will be really powerful and futureproof. Dell or Asus or HP. All are good.

But of course, it's Apple. They have to trip on their own foot, again.

Given that Apple already has been reported to have ended production of M2 chips, plus the impending global recession, this seems premature. Most MacBook buyers would already have at least an M1 by the point these are released, so other than possible AV1 support, I can think of no significant improvements to warrant an upgrade.

"None of this is confirmed" I'm not negative here but seriously you put entire Post and written this line in the end.

It might not be ideal, but there are "applications" where you don't want ANY fan noise. Literally none. I'm using laptop as "evening" media device so I watch movies in bed and last thing I want is any fan noise. So I'm running a 100% passive cooled ultrabook. It ain't Mac, but it's just as quiet. I made small modification though where I connected the heatsink plate of CPU to the aluminium chassis of the ultrabook. CPU runs much cooler now, but the chassis can get very toasty. Apple can't do that by default because such laptop can't be used on a lap anymore because of how hot they get. And that applies to all passive cooled laptops. There are even safety certifications that require devices to not heat up externally past certain temperature level for that very reason.

If you need a more powerful and thermally unconstrained device, buy a Mac with active cooling.
