Overpriced like hell. It works not hours, but weeks? Unless you put off half of the functions and measurements. If not it can be even hours. Moreover, multimedia is very limited. The most lacking support for messengers such as WhatsApp, Signal, Telegram in 2023 ? Unfortunately without this and LTE sometimes you can't leave your phone at home.
$800-1000 for a watch that has barely changed for years and we are in the 21st century? A lot of bugs in the software, insufficient in multimedia and other solutions mean that I may exchange my old Garmin for the next models of Samsung, Apple or even wait a year if not two years, for a price around $ 500.

Sadly, ~30% of the surface area is lost to mega-bezels. What a waste of space.

The prices for the USA are acceptable but for Europe, it's +20% on the base price in EUR. Dont, know why there is such a drastic difference.

At the least the Divers Watch design used by e.g. Garmin here, signals that it as all about functionality, and that you are unlikely to use it with long sleeves let alone a jacket.

So if you want to operate it DURING sport, I see your point, I guess it will require huge buttons for say a Tennis-player to operate WHILE playing. But I would guess that a more common scenario is to set things up BEFORE, and check AFTER. But maybe that is just me...

Anonymous, 01 Jun 2023You don't like it, you don't buy it simple as that. Indeed, but I would hope for some serious development in making USABLE smart-watches, and not just repeatedly put out yet another monster - unfortunately this is all 'known' brands, not in anyway attacking Garmin in particular.

EskeRahn, 01 Jun 2023Just one word: YIKES! They are so monstrous... I simply ... moreVery simple: these are serious multisport devices for athlete, extreme sports people and explorers who need always reliable navigation and reliable battery life. It's not a smartwatch, not a trend device, not intended to fit to your shoes/shirt/skirt/blouse etc. If you want trend, put on the apple watch and charge it every day. ;)

EskeRahn, 01 Jun 2023Just one word: YIKES! They are so monstrous... I simply ... moreBy comparison to a smartphone they are positively tiny, and next to a smartwatch they would crush most in performance terms by a country mile.
And the software is far more in tune then the average tracking software on fitness trackers and smartwatches, also when you are running at speed trying to fiddle with tiny little buttons and touchscreens on those watches mid training can be a real pain in the rear.
Big old chunky watches and buttons are literally the way forward when trying to use these types of devices.
They are indestructible as well, well not quite but they would survive a whole load more then the average watch, most of the people that use these types of watches do all sorts of other outdoor rough activities with them, they are not quite as big as the photos suggest, especially when placed next to an apple watch ultra for example, but yes they are big, and for a good reason.
