01 September 2023
The carrier just called dibs and revealed details about the plans - up to 25GB data for roaming in the UK, split contracts and some freebies.

I Just Read, 01 Sep 2023Unless it has changed EXCLUSIVITY means that the network OV... moreYou can customise your device plan from three months to three years, depending on what you can afford monthly. No need to wait for three years for your device plan to end, you can pay it off anytime, and your airtime plan is a monthly rolling contract so it unlinks once you've paid off your device.

Dr. Watson, 01 Sep 2023Just checked O2's site, apparently they're doing ... moreDamn. That's amazing lol. I have the 1 iv and I'm with another network that I get a big discount for. If it wasn't for that I would 100% be going for smth like that.

Unless it has changed EXCLUSIVITY means that the network OVERPAY or pays a premium to be the ONLY seller for a LIMITED TIME, the longer the period, the higher the cost,
O2 are banking on having a phone no one else has etc.

So my guess is due to the premier flagship Xperia 1 V, that familial relationship promotes the Xperia 5 V, I don't need flagship but I want high end.

Finally for those not familiar with O2, the contract setup is slightly odd, and just needs clarification to the article.

O2 did change to what it is now.
        (A) Handset conrtacts are THREE years (price divided by 36)
        (B) add EITHER a pre packaged bundle voice/ data text OR design these (mix and match) from selection offered

Only after two years can they be unlinked
You still have 12 months handset to pay off
        The "basic" contract

On my network a straight 2 years, If more (B) selected the monthly price increases

Carrier exclusivity should be illegal. Exclusive deals like the ones O2 has are good, but they shouldn't be the only ones that can distribute these phones. Then again, this was probably done because Sony knows that their devices are niche, so having only one distributor would be cheaper for them. Still, it's very much an anti-consumer move.

imparanoic, 01 Sep 2023That's awesome, especially if it's a Sony 43' TVI think it was lol

                I hate carrier exclusives.
