3nm Exynos 2500 tipped to be more efficient than Snapdragon 8 Gen 4

19 April 2024
The Samsung chip will also reportedly offer higher performance than the Qualcomm platform.

The article mentions that SD Gen 4 will stick with 4nm. That is likely to be incorrect, since TSMC's 3nm process (N3E) has gone into volume production in Q4 2023 itself, and there will be enough chips (left after fulfilling demand from Apple) for Qualcomm to go with 3nm for SD Gen 4.

      Qualcomm just sits there.
Samsung comes along to try and overtake them and they fall over on their own. It's like watching a weird comedy. haha

        To be honest,
While I always say negative thing about Exynos in here,
I do think that there is nothing wrong with Samsung doing Exynos.

My problem is: Samsung overselling the Exynos.
I believe Samsung should position the Exynos as mid & low end CPU.
Use their mid-range Exynos to fight low-end Snapdragon & Mediatek
And use their top-tier Exynos to fight Snapdragon 7 series & Mediatek 8000 series.
        This.... would be epic battle.

The problem with Exynos chipsets is that the modems are terrible. It doesn't matter how efficient the chipset is technically, if it can't hold a signal and is constantly skipping from one band to the next, it will eat through your battery in very little time (plus your reception is crap). The only way to make battery life okay on a Exynos chipset is to disable 5G. The Qualcomm modems are so vastly superior to anything else. So Samsung would do a lot better to address their modem problems first, since they're killing battery life more than anything.

MindTheGap, 20 Apr 2024Number two rule- never trust anyone who says Exynos is goodRule no. 3: When they say Exynos is "efficient", at best it is less battery consuming, but it will still heat up, perform lower, be unstable, be unsupporting of aftermarket distributions and those things will not change.
At worst, it can be rubbish.

Does nm even matter? I mean S24 with 4nm is almost equal and even faster than iPhone 15 pro with 3nm.

Recently the SOCs getting too fast (and some with "too hot" feature), but we (especially I, Me and Myself) using it only for watching Y-tube and scrolling G- Arena. It do have very fast wifi but my connection capped to 30mbps. 5G with no signal almost everywhere (in my country). People said buy what you need and not what you want, but no option virtually available.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is based on 3nm fabrication process not 4nm!

The only positive thing with the latest Exynos is the Gpu part with Amd,which is promising.

The rest is as usual behind Snapdragon or even latest Mediatek competition.
