The Xperia 1 VI ditched what it didn't need and made the rest better. Coming in June for €1,399.

    My opinion?

    There is no bad phone, just bad pricing and this one proves exactly that.

    I really really don't want to sound like a hater, but in my opinion this phone shouldn't cost that much.

    Slightly disappointed mainly with two things:
    - the price is too high compared to the predecessor when it was announced.
    - as for the screen resolution, pixels in 1080p on 6.5" 19.5:9 are too big for the flagship category which costs €1400.
    - the only "live" color red exclusive for Japan market only 😐

      Glad I got my 1 V. Looks like I won't be 'upgrading' for quite a while. I hate the US market...

            396ppi is kinda low, should have been at least 450ppi imo.

                1)overpriced
                2)a vapor chamber is pointless because unlike a laptop there are no fans to quickly dissipate heat.

                  XM5 uses HiresAudio via LDAC. That's the best possible audio transmission on bluetooth so far. If your other headphone has this protocol it might not have any advantages.
                  The DAP/DAC for the 3,5mm connection has to be tested independently, but gives no advantage as far as I know with XM5 (despite arguably the best noise cancellation you can buy... but that's depending on presonal taste what sounds better, as always)

                                YUKI93, 15 May 2024All the new improvements, particularly from the new Snapdra... more"new SD 8 Gen 3" are you high? Gen 4 is new, 3 is already old... Sony is *always* on last years hardware for the same or higher price of other manufacturers with current hardware.
                                Considering the SD 8 Gen 4 could prove as "monumental" change (based on leaks) and combined with the asking price it's hardly a bargain, in fact it's once again not competitive.

                                  Just ordered it! You'll get the XM5 Headset (349 Euro) for free.
                                  Shipping 2nd of June. Quite fast. I like the photographer focus and the new zoom.

                                  However, it was a tough decision. 256GB and only 12 GB RAM is really bad for a such a pricey phone. Without sdcard support the device would be unusable for me. But with a 1.5TB sd card it should be fine. At least there is pro audio, so it doubles as a podcasting mic for me. My Samson GTrack is getting old :).

                                  But I'm looking forward to get it delivered. Days counting...
