It's phones were excellent devices and they innovated with every launch but people don't like innovation, people want the same garbage over and over again: bigger and ugly phones.

I know it doesn't matter for people here as probably nobody here would be Co side buying a phone like this. However, basically when an older person walks into a China mobile or China telecom store the staff will try to sell them this cause the profit margin is probably somewhere in the region of 70-100% and both Xiaomi and the carrier can pocket it at the expense of the consumer. They are already a very profitable company and don't really need to engage in these type of practices. The old Xiaomi would never never do this. It's disappointing to see it happening.

                Xiaomi mid range and low range phones are just electronic waste at this point, who's gonna buy a 170mm phone, that's just ridiculous, that's a tablet.

                  13R Pro is coming with 4 Gen 3/ 698 which is supposed to debut on G85 of Moto. Meanwhile, Redmi needs to boxify the phone & add stylus support to Note Series cuz Note is notebook style.

In other parts, it's $350-$500 for IQOO Neo 8 /Neo 7 Pro. As expected from Redmi, Realme & Oppo, Samsung & Vivo. Launch at increased price for offline phones. Increase money for online phones. Shopkeeper gets them at 25% discount on original price & customers buy these phones for non VFM pricing/ Costly pricing.

                      I'm sure if the 13R goes global the Redmi 13 5G will also be cheaper than China.

                        That is almost Sony levels of overpriced.

                          Let me put this into context. This phone is more expensive that the IQOO neo 8. The IQOO neo 8 comes with snapdragon 8+ gen 1, a V1+ vivo imaging chip, 120W fast charging with charger in the box, a 1.5k 144Hz Oled screen, NFC, IR blaster etc, 1/1.55" main camera with OIS, ufs3.1, LPDDR5. The IQOO neo 8 costs 1,699rmb for 12gb 256gb (equivalent to US$235). This phone costs 1,999rmb (equivalent to US$277) for the same 12gb 256gb storage . For that you get snapdragon 4 gen 2, LCD screen, 1/2.76" camera sensor without OIS, LPDDR4X, UFS2.2 etc all for an extra US$42.

                            12 gb ram paired with 4Gen2 sounds like overkill

                              imagine this is more like POCO F6 Lite / Redmi Turbo 3 Lite💀

                                  The price for this one is ridiculously high. 1,399rmb for 6gb 128gb is hard to fathom.
                                  Obviously, this is meant to be sold only through carriers to rip off unsuspecting mostly older customers who have no real interest in technology. Really don't appreciate these types of phones that try to rip off unsuspecting people to increase profit margins. This must be the most overpriced phone of 2024 so far in China. I think it will be hard to beat for that title.
