android is famous because its FREE if you get a pair of watches for free will not the entire word ranging from a poor to a WOW wallet warrior use it?
similarly android is such. Android run on java,virtual machine so it will lag no matter what and how many core you put into it.
most phone under 80% are not even SMARTPHONE there are just feature phone running android GB with 256 ram and 800mhz single core. Half of them are just chiness knock off or clones or just landfill androids.
truth - no carrier like android as you can bypass their security and restriction. But they have to go with it . Because android sells.
why android sells?
because you think its good. You think this because almost every one has it. Why? Because they can not afford a iPhone or windows phone. Once every one has some thing you want the best of that thing so you go for higher end android droid.
cheap Chinese and other company filled the world with cheap android feature phone. Once people see them they got to illusion its good. So they go for buying best of the worst. S4
i will not say that android is worst but the 80% of Android total fail measures one cant count cheap end feature phone (lagdroids) as smart phone
its more like 50% androis, 30 ios and 15 wp, 5 others.
80% is total exaggerated thing

Yet I have never heard about someone who managed to crack a blackberry device. So puting it a simple way it means that 80% ppl do not need security, or at least it is not the top priority issue for them. And do not talking about games, I'm giving an example of gps navigation program and it is not a game!

No need to argue about how many brands there are, this article is about the OS. It's just like comparing Ferrari (2-seater) vs. all other 2-seaters out there (Lambhourginni, Corvette, etc.). It just doesn't make sense to make such an excuse. Just because your favored OS is not leading, it doesn't mean you have to move mountains to contest that. How come this argument doesn't occur to PC's, huh? Like, how many unbranded PC's are out there using Windows versus the number of devices using Mac? That's because all of us are using (or have owned/used) Windows, and not a Mac, so there's no reason to make that argument. Just because you own an iPhone it doesn't make you any better. Same thing goes for PC's, just because you own a Mac, it doesn't make you any better, and most likely you also have/had a Windows as well. :P

Android is so successful because it's open source. That means that people are allowed to actually do stuff to it and have lots more free apps. Many smartphone manufacturers choose Android because of it being open source and being the most productive OS of all for the time being (80% market share). Saying that IOS or WP is better is at least inappropriate because that's just your opinion - it's up to the people to choose and judging by the facts they like Android more than the other OSs (again, 80% market share). I just can't see why people like 'ifans' and such constantly b*tch about which one is better when the facts say it all :) (and also if you like an OS doesn't mean that all others have to like the same one... you get the point :D)

Apple is the winner because.
Apple have 1 OS and 1 Brand .
but due to free licence android have 1 OS and 852 brands
so Clearly APPLE is the winner

Crappy or non crappy, people in every part of the world at at every level of economy has atleast a slight experience of todays technology. And frankly, in some part of the world, iphone has made no better image than the status of rich dumb kids stupidity.....

Slow but encouraging news for MS and Nokia. IOS incremental sales are about 5m and for Windows Phone 3.3m. Didn't know that WP share is now bigger all others combined. Very encouraging but it'll be no mean feat catching up with iOS.

One has to be mad to think in business you dont need security in your operation systems no matter what they are. As for apps, about 95% of the market is about 7-8 key apps and the rest are useless, malware, or stupid games for the low intelligent non thinking person. Android has issues - if my staff can play with this then anyone can.

I mean they were good 10 years ago, since then they have made so many errors that nowadays one can hardly hear about them. Very poor HW and very small app world with almost zero free aps are the main reasons for wipe. They have definitely better security and battery life, but who needs it today ? Just compare how many free gps navigation programs we have on android and what we get on blackberry ? The ratio might be 100 v.s. 2. And that is a rough popularity ratio in public: They do have about 2% of the market.

Hey, there are more non-"smart" phones in the world than "smart" ones.
Does this make them better? I don't think so.
Most Androids around the world are cr@p. Android 4.2 and 4.3 are better than iOS6 - the rest are worse. iOS7 basically catches up.
Overall, both are decent mobile OSs, as is W7.
Competition is good. Chill with the nonsense.

Apple just can't compete with the big dogs, anymore. It's just down to people that dress like they're homeless, but it's okay: They have an iPhone, so they're people, too.
