Every big phone manufacturer runs a suit of tests. Don't think they're the only ones.

I hope they've been doing this for at least since they've released the E65 and the N76...those phones were garbage. My E65 is shutting off for no reason now. I have to wait until next summer to get it fixed when I go back to Malaysia...I'm looking to get the N96 or N82. Hope they've fixed the quality!

Great structural testing... Nokia's have always been great for that.
It's just a shame they can't rigorously test their Symbian software in the same way... :-(

I couldn't bring myself to do this stuff to my N95 - not a single scratch on the screen after 18 mo's! Keep it in a Crumpler pouch mostly.

I've been using n6630 for 4 years now.yes the color is peeling off but the phone doesn't take any name of dying.Nokia Roks! But pleas Nokia make 3' display multitouch touchsceer phones affordable for common people like me.Android would be a great option as OS on your handsets.

On another note, I must say that I'm impressed with these testings that Nokia go through for their handsets...
Except for "dislocating a thumb" thingy... ;-p
              That's a good one!

                      this bit is funny

'Finally the phone keypad endurance is tested by special robotic arms that simulate several hundred thousand presses on each key. We wonder if Sony Ericsson did this test for the S500 and W580 that earned their sorry reputations for having faulty keypads.'

LOL Doubt SE even tests their phones like Nokia does..

Quality is what nokia is about. obviously they do software testing as well. Nokia is one of the best at offering software updates for their phones frequently. My n95 went from slow and awkward to being quick and responsive. I love Nokia

but my n73 got repaired 4 times in a year.. they even had to replace the motherboard twice.. what kind of quality control is that? i am partly mad because the phone only has a 1 year warranty and almost 6 months of it's "warranted life" was in their service center getting repaired..

Never try "fully loaded sms" responsiveness test or "radio function suddenly stop working test" ??? No wonder...

Its not the hardware they should be testing before release its the actual software, thats where the majority of nokia faults are down to software issues.
