I would expect the flexible screen to mean a screen that wraps around the edge of the the phone. So Imagine a phone with the screen bending over the edges and displaying other info as well. food for thought

I do't really see the innovation in this... for what this will be useful ? :S

Now I want to understand this flexible display will enable u to bend an twist the screen right. Correct me if am wrong if u want a cellphone to be flexible it's not jus the display to be flexible but the entire phone must be flexible that include the battery, the circuit board, the shell of the phone etc. Everything thing on the phone must be flexible not just the screen.

its only the display which is flexible..not the whole phone..haha..if u want a flexible phone then you need a flexible circuit board

Anonymous, 02 Oct 2013-another gimmicks... what's the good about curve LCD? Its not about the curve its about durability which stated that this tech is unbreakable so no need to worry about your screen thu.. and flexible as well.. and lighter just imaging compare to digitizer with glass..

Curved phones in pockets. Imagine how embarrassing it would feel when u keep the curved fone in the pocket standing in front of a woman! They would think he p***s is standing! And pity those eyes! Remember how traditional curved CRT was backed out by LEDs n LCDs...samsung going to the old age..large n curvy screens!

PEOPLE. The use of this screen is so that when it falls the screen won't break. It can't "fit into containers smaller than its size" or "become bigger" Christ, people. Just because the screen's the only thing you see, doesn't mean that it's the only thing in there. The phone's full of non-bendable parts like the battery or the processor. People, please THINK?

For those who use the word "gimmick" too often very likely to have poor imagination or being pathetic fanboys.

Flexible screen is just a great technology. Imagine if you can resize or fold your screen size from 4" to lets say 7" and still pocket-able. Also, increases the durability of the screen. I don't think they would need a glass layer on the screen though.

Just imaging the size-consequences if we will be able to go back to the ancient script-roll format...

Think a device with tablet sized display portable in a normal pocket...

regs, 02 Oct 2013It's not about bezels. It's about design. Bezels are alread... more3-4mm is the practical bezel minimum? Really??

That may be a practical minimum for a phone that is bulky, heavy and unwieldy because your forced to grip it very firmly to use it.
This type of display should allow for even thinner and lighter phones. So if it's less than 7mm thick and around 100gms (3.6 ounces) then working a phone with 1mm to 2mm side bezels is easily practical. The SGS2 was 116gms so 100gms is possible.

When phones get even thinner and lighter still then virtually side bezel-less will be not only be easy to use, it will be the expectation!

bendable display won't allow a cell phone to bend but it will allow a smart phone of a size of tablet to fit in a pencil or a bar like structure much smaller than its actual size hope this technology will achieve its mass production soon looking forward to it.

The idea is to prevent screens cracking not to have curved or bendable devices and to be fair the new smartphones of today don't have indestructible displays but by making them flexible the chance of them breaking is far less.
