I guess they want to lead as the top manufacturer for a long time that just sitting in comfort zone.

Despite the nosedive the S4 sales is far better than what the S3 got in the previous year, and is still something that other Android manufacturers would kill for to achieve. So why is Samsung getting so anxious? Are they really obsessed with competing with Apple to the point of the amount of sales of their iPhones?

stop stealing Apple's idea on the iWatch. Apple patented iWatch first, then samsung decided to bring out samsung gear very quickly to market which a poor product and very rushed.
stop copying, SVoice.. is a copy og Siri
SPass is a copy of Apple's Passbook.
everything in the Samsung S4 is a clone of Apple.

lets face it, apart from apple, no other company can shift 5 million units per month, and while it is lower then the analysts predictions it was only fair to expect sale to dwindle, the s4 is now a 6 month old device, and while it is still insanely powerful there is much better competition this year then the same time last year when it was the s3, put that together with the fact that the market is almost oversaturated with smartphones from EVERY maker offering bigger and better, so it is no shock to expect a slow down, but having been a fan of the previous models of galaxy i will be looking for something completely new from samsung if i am to stick withh them for the s5, sony are doing good things with the xperia lineup but i just dont want such a big phone because of all that top and bottom bezel, if the s5 was to arrive i would like to see at least minimum 2.5ghz quad core, 3gb ram, 16.5mp camera with OIS and really good low light skills, flexible screen tech to reduce weight and bezel size, screen size of around 5.3" in the same size as the s4 almost, removable 3500+mAh battery, minimum 32gb storage with micro sd slot, do not care for 64bit chips, fingerprint scanners as they are just gimmicky and samsung has enough gimmicky tech, i would also like to see things like apps 2 sd, stock apps can be deleted as i dont want them all on my device cluttering my phone, change the design and stop bringing out so many variants of 1 device, put all your eggs into 1-2 baskets and bring out serious piece of kit to wow everyone.....

It keeps me updated on the latest news when i listen to radio shows. Sumtimes, listening to the radio also helps me discover new songs, even old songs that i don't know the title. Its good to have an old-but-reliable tech. :)

The move from S2 to S3 was a small one (same ram, same camera, same a9 tech, same *true* PPI, a bigger screen which came with big bezels which ruined the series' compactness).
S4 pretty much fix all this. Small bezels, monstrous PPI, 2gigs of ram, next gen cores, far better camera. The only thing that remained the same is the body and that 's all you people saw? Sure it was a mistake, but the S3 left the same for second year in a row core things of the phone. It was a bad phone even for its era. S4 is very well thought to be of the best...

This is the problem with oversaturating the market with smartphones. Other Model(s) will surely suffer from poor sales. For the FM radio, as if you can stream via 3G/LTE when connections are down. Here in Asia, analog radio is still a neccesity.

Yes, of course S4 doensn't have FM radio because of NSA... It's not because nobody cares about FM on their phones...
I sell phones, and believe me, only people who still looks for FM on their phones are old people who don't even send SMS on their phones...'cause they don't know how to...
For the other one that has the apocalyptic view of the world, nowadays if the internet stops working, you'll have gigantic problems in your life, and not having FM on your phone will be the least of them...
Simply put, lesser and lesser phones have FM radio in them because, frankly, people don't use it...

Not enough practical innovation is what is driving the sales of its flagship down. The battery problems, overheatibg issues and hanging on the S4 are well known. Samsung need to address all these issues in their next flagship along with ensuring the device have a dramatically better battery life, alongwith including a dedicated camera key as no competitor seems to include one in their smartphones, also a more premium and different design with a more shatter resistant screen. Then Samsung will have regained my trust, when they start addressing the user needs, rather than just throwing in more useless innovations.
