MoFo, 05 May 2014My cell phone has Jelly Bean 4.1.2 and my tablet has KitKat... moreI've been with Android since the 2.1. I think 3.0 was the turning point. It's only getting better.

Kyembe, 04 May 2014Jelly Bean is better than kitkatMy cell phone has Jelly Bean 4.1.2 and my tablet has KitKat 4.4.2. I see no substantial difference besides the new cartoonish icons and them replacing the stock messaging app with Hangouts.

Kitkat is kind of refreshment like Gingerbread was by it's time. I am proud Android user for about four years, use of the system had become a major habit for me because it was build by best way, most perspective and open source, unlike iOS and Windows Phone. Of course I don't use gapps, exept voice search (precisely, typing by voice recognition which is part of the application).

Google trying to push out the SD. Not sure how I feel. On one hand SD is cheaper and obviously swappable, on the other, I don't take my card out too often and on board memory is faster. As for the upgrades they're basically performance and bug fixes, nothing worth complaining about if you don't get them.

AnonD-260402, 04 May 2014Gingerbread 2.3.6 was a mile stone for Android after that i... moreIt depends hugely on the hardware.

If your SoC is relatively modern then it will feature the HW acceleration that many of the new UI elements latter exploited.

In short, the latest versions of Android manage to perform better than GB (or at least on par) by taking advantage of hardware features (mostly GPU) that GB didn't actually use, all whilst improving greatly the usability and user experience of the system.

The only reason to remain in GB is if your phone/tablet has a truly ancient SoC or one that doesn't have proper drivers for the later versions of Android.

Gingerbread 2.3.6 was a mile stone for Android after that is was just UI updates , no significant changes.

I am very satisfied with my GB 2.3.6 on my Galaxy Ace s5830i .It works very well.

The only situation where I would buy a new phone will be- When my this phone is dead or lost. :)

I am really looking forward to Ubuntu phone or Mozilla OS.

Anonym, 03 May 2014That may be true as a policy, but on the technical side you... moreI do understand your concern. ...however I fail to grasp the restrictions imposed by Google without an option to turn our off.

We have a toggle to install apps from unknown sources, why not the same here. .. let people decide what they want.

also in built apps can access the write to the memory. .... how lame!!!

I'm definitely going to root my phone man.

Thanks to brands like Motorola with super awesome and affordable MotoG and MotoX, we are seeing so many kitkats.
Glad that they are making nearly flawless phones. Waiting for MotoE to get launched and dominate the lower segment, by throwing off samsungs which are still minting money on jellybeans
