But no brand can b... moreYou have to accept that Samsung is not competing only with Apple and also with Android OEMs. So the specs race is an cutting edge survival mode for all Android OEMs on premium flagships. And I agree with the bad situation on Samsung producing a lot of medium and low end phones branding Galaxy line. Also the medium and low end Samsung phones are not so competitive (specs/price). Samsung have to change something in further line.

But there are lot of people in the world, who buy iphones because it is status symbol, looking cool, peer pressure etc. Those are called as isheeps by few people in this site, which i still don't agree with (i.e. calling someone else as sheep just because you do not like their choice). My view is - it is their choice and others should not make any personal comment on it.

Which kinda gives me a special point of view from the "outside-in" when I look around and what I see when I look around are people buying Apple/Beats OUT OF FEAR of being ridiculed and people buying Android DESPITE knowing full well they'll be ridiculed.
So what I feel about this is that I do my best to have compassion for the former and to encourage the later.
Right now, its almost to the point where you can do the fashion analogy. You know, the girl must be slim, but have huge boobs, she must have a thigh gap, but have a racing grade ass. Marketing and peer pressure does this, not men.
Just like in the phone business, marketing and peer pressure does what I mentioned earlier, not the actual worth of the product.
I'm not saying some knowledgeable people don't buy Apple without any influence by the marketing, brand recognition and peer pressure. But a lot of people commit "Appeal to the bandwagon" and "genetic" logical fallacies without even being aware they do in regard to both preferring Apple and shunning Androids.
Right now, Android = "Geeks&Nerds", Apple = "Cool quarterback and cheerleaders" which is just total nonsense.

Best news I have heard all day. S5 is overrated and overpriced. So is the iPhone, but at least it gives you quality and excellent service when needed.....

I have a iphone, so I am a sheep because I want a smaller smartphone that I can easily carry around with me, I demand quality and I'm happy to pay for it, I want an ecosystem that works, I want access to the highest quality and best apps around, I want a fast and responsive smart phone, I don't care for junk and gimmicks, but I am a sheep!!,

Samsung failed to live up to consumer expectations relating to screen quality and the plastic build of the device.
ok, i can go with plastic, but screen quality? wth? it has the best screen in the market, even if its only 1080p.

I'm even looking for a girlfriend working for apple because I'm sure they are better in bed then any other girl. And of course I hope to buried in an iCemetary because I'm sure that my experience being dead will be very user friendly. Of course I'll have to pay premium price for the grave and the moment that my money runs out they will dig me out, but at least I would have rested in iPeace for some years.

I think the problem here is Samsung did not address the only gripe of Galaxy fans - the plastic body.
Yes, plastic is durable but it looks less premium. People are ALSO after the design. Features-wise, they already have everything.
I'm an HTC One m8 user and if not for the same plastic build of S5, I could've dived in to the hype.

Definitely the iPhone is a status phone. But no brand can become and stay a status brand unless it provides better customer satisfaction than the competition. For example Nokia was a status brand, but it went down fast because their user base found something better. Samsung was never a status brand, they customers were never really satisfied with their phones on long term. It was either the plastic case, or the lag, or the short battery life, or the bloat or the late OS updates, and I'm talking here about the Galaxy phones starting with the first S. And what's worst for a brand is to be suspected that it copies or imitates another brand. Samsung Galaxy S series sold well just because of the technical specs and (faked) benchmark scores to people that prefer to "be different". But once you sold enough units, and people start to see the limits of the phone, those people don't feel so "different" anymore, the feel like the average Joe at best or as fool at worst, and that's the worst thing for people like that. So they'll eithef fall back in line, going for the status brand or find a brand that will make them feel "different" again.

You can scream lack of features, but the common people do not feel it.
You can scream lack of specs, but the common people do not feel it.
When hardware and software work together in harmony, it will result in the best phone known to man.
Google got the message when they release the nexus series/ and asop phones. But.. then again, they do not own or have much say in the hardware part.
And do not forget Apple have both Desktop OS and Mobile OS. Android users are screwed to rely on Windows.. and in fact they praise WinXP and condemn Win8/WP8..
You can never go wrong with iPhone / Macs.

Otherwise Tim Cook might become very angry at you and you will not be able to feel superior to the people who do not have it (even though they can do loads more than you on their phones) because your self-worth, without it, is actually zero. And did I mention, you're going to get laid every night, because in spite of being an inspiring black rectangular, the phone is very attractive to the opposite gender.

If you like holding aluminium, go to your local DIY shop and buy a piece of aluminium for 2€ and enjoy the "premium" feel. That advice goes to GSMArena and all similar sites as well. The crusade of the tech sites and some confused readers for metal phones is becoming pathetic. Having said that, I haven't and I will not buy S5 because it looks exactly like S3 and S4, has huge bezels for 2014 flagship and the developments in the smartphone area have plateaued as far as normal users are concerned. Screen resolutions above Full HD (and even 720p) are pointless and the bump in processing power is only useful to power gamers.
