What I find weird is that even with all its experience, money and overpriced employees they cant seem to make enough phones with saphire glass. wow.

So basically they had an idea, implemented it and it ends up for only 10 milion pieces. Which means that most of the phone will have the same glass breaking front as last year.

    INNOVATION.

AnonD-238804, 18 Jul 2014Oh, aren't you the dude who's all about the "facts&qu... more"Oh, aren't you the dude who's all about the "facts" in his posts? No, guess not."

      >>Definitely about facts. This article is factual enough. Pushing back the release of the iPhone 5.5" has guaranteed the loss of money.

"Point is, prove your point. Every year little boys like you come around saying "Oh this year, Apple (or its sales) will go down."

PFffffffffff, haha!!! Yeah, right. Every time Apple proves you wrong."

      >>The article is proving my point. If you don't think that having touch-sensitivity issues on the 5.5" sapphire displays, having a limited supply of material, and only offering sapphire on certain 4.7" models doesn't have all the makings of a bad launch, you're just in denial.

Consumers in the market for iPhone 6 aren't going to be on the lookout for the version without Sapphire glass. They're going to want the latest and greatest that Apple has to offer. There is no doubt that the models without it are going to suffer low sales.

BTW, I'm not a child (probably much older than you), have been here for well over 10 years (before GSMArena were ever listing CDMA devices), and I've never unintelligibly made statements about Apple possibly losing money unless there's a reason to (like for the 3 consecutive quarters in 2013).

If an article is written concerning any company having major issues only months away from a big release, it's common sense to think that it may have a negative impact on the launch.

So basically what will happen is people will get their hands on the extra special sapphire display iPhones, then go on an eBay and sell it for 3 times the value of the iPhone, then people who want an amazing sapphire display will pay the extra amount to feel exclusive from other iPhone owners, which is about 80% of people around them.

This is one of the reasons I have broken away from Apple, there is nothing special about the iPhones.

Can't blame Apple doing this. As far as I know, it is not easy nor it is a quick process to synthesize Sapphire. It's not hard to imagine that they only want the premium model to posses this fine piece of "glass".

Apple is clever this way because people will definitely value the super strong sapphire screen and many will be okay to pay for the premium price to get it.

If you look at past sales records, the most selling iPhone models are always the 16GB models. Doing this potentially shift the pattern more to the side of 64GB/128GB model (presumably). The best of all, is that consumers are bearing that screen cost, while Apple cut cost on the possible need on replacing the unbreakable screen.

Apple has everything to gain on this move. But if you ask me, of course I want it on the baseline model, this way Apple can keep their product line consistent, and that consumers will feel less "ripped off". But who can blame them on wanting to make more profit?

Samsung and LG have mentioned they will use saphire glass on their upcoming devices months ago.
