Xiaomi? No.1?
It is not like a flash sale of a mere 10000 pieces. To get top 5 you should talk in millions of units!!

Anonymous, 30 Jul 2014Yes, and you should too. http://www.engadget.com/2014/0... morewell said sir

While I do like the Mi 3/4, Xiaomi is 10+ years away from being in the top 5 of "Top Smartphone Manufacturers" in the world. If ever.

It definitely has to do better than just selling out its entire stock of 10,000 units, and then posting about it. Lol.

            http://www.engadget.com/2014/07/29/samsung-market-share-drops/

Chinese manufacturers operate on the same method that Samsung used to defeat other rivals, top specs, at cheap prices, a method the Chinese manufacturers are now using in a better way than Samsung.

Apple has never competed on hardware, rather they have always sought to distinguish themselves by user experience. A combination of hardware and software, allowing themselves to price themselves differently from the market.

That is why Samsung will suffer (Chinese manufacturers stealing their market share), Apple will have a similar year to their previous ones (Apple consumers are not the same as the ones buying Chinese smartphones).

And the Chinese manufacturers will have a great year, as they are only beginning, and the momentum is gathering.

FreezeGame, 30 Jul 2014Catchy title, but not even close to defining the real story... moreWell said

Catchy title, but not even close to defining the real story here. Looking at these charts/numbers, it's quite clear that the other companies aren't even a real challenge.

Samsung is absolutely destroying the competition. This serves as evidence that its reign isn't going to be over any time soon.

Men lie, women lie, numbers don't.

What else would you expect when you keep hawking the same Galaxy crap year after year with modest changes & outdated hardware & even higher prices..

Samsung loses ground in Q2 because they keep making and making new phones every 3 weeks from now instead of focusing in updating all thier High, Mid, Low end phones to Kitkat just like Motorola, Sony, LG are doing now...

Say thanks to Stupid move of taking Indians as Dumb customers for this fall....
Samsung treating Indians as stupid is showing results now.
Charging a premium for not so premium devices (Stripped down S5, Note 3, Neo handsets without 4k shooting, slow processors compared to international versions)....
ASUS, Micromax, Moto, Nokia, LG, HTC, Sony with their great Offerings will kill Sammy soon....

Samsung is losing sales. Apple is doing what they normally do. Xiaomi, ZTE and chinese manufacturers are on the ascent.

2015 will prove to be a very difficult year for Samsung, a similar one for Apple, and a great one for chinese manufacturers.

S3 was great in its time, but S4 and S5 failed making the impact that S3 did. Design, and getting bigger sized flagships with thicker bezels did not help them either.

Samsung, time to release degrading marketing advertisements against Huawei. Like you did to Apple lol.

Not that it will make any difference. Just another funny joke for your fanboys.

And actually having a MINUS samsung for growth, really? hahaha nice, even with the 100,00,000 different products you have released this year.
Bring out a decent, reliable phone and people will buy it lol

They have peaked and now it hard to even preserve their lead that will get eroded by the 'others'.

It's about time other companies finally produce comparable devices to compete against Samsung.
