Samsung now depends on any sort of positive headline they can get. No longer Galaxy vs iPhone, so they now use TOTAL LTE sales.

That and introducing a model every week, as a business strategy, just to get headlines.

Pretty pathetic, but even without Apple, Xiaomi and LG are already bashing Samsung's performance. How? Simply offering superior products.

Samsung, stop the marketing, and go back to producing good phones for a change.

I have a frien with an iPhone we had a healthy argument because I bought a LG premium phone. He made sense telling me that you can buy cheaper phone specs like Oppo, Huawei and Xiaomi, your phone is made china also and he was right I still choose the branded ones. The guy was right android people like us saying they buy overly price iphone but we also we buy overly price android phones also so we made the argument a draw and at peace.

I find it very ignorant when people connect the success of Samsung phones sold to the amount they release. HTC, Nokia, and other brands also release several devices a year yet still fail to break out of the struggle they've been in. Galaxy devices are popular for a reason and haters just need to accept it. It's really sad how a phones dip in popularity really can hurt someone's pride. Don't let your device define who you are.

Same with the home button the the Samsung S5.

Would it hurt them to innovate a little on the design?

Probably hurts their brains thinking about it.

Folks... lets not jump into rivalry... here are few pointers IMHO

                                        - it could also be seasonal... Historical data shows that Apple sales slow down in Q2 in anticipation of new model

                                        - Samsung could have sold lot of device (according to data only ~0.5% more) but its revenue is no where next to what Apple's is on a per device basis

                                        - Remember lot of posts here are by technological literate folks... Apple continues to appeal the large chunk of market who can a) Afford the device b) Want something that just works c) Enjoy the simplicity of the ecosystem - Apple TV, iPad, et al.

                                        - 1GB RAM / Blah Blah don't make much of difference to regular day folks - be it business or personal

                                        - Apple may have annual refresh cycles (2 yr product overhaul cycles) but its customer loyalty base is huge, at the least it doesn't release various iterations of the same Galaxy brand every 2 months or so (in turn pissing off some of its base)... example Galaxy Alpha, Active, Sport, et al.

                                        - So sure Samsung sold lot more LTE devices, but not necessarily the winner
