Hey I just want to know how much ROM will be available for user .
I mean how much space from 8 GB will be consume by MIUI?

AnonD-226217, 27 Aug 2014No bashing - deliberately and repeatedly bashing the same b... moreWhat you don't seem to understand is that "Bashing" is tearing a product down in a deliberate/derogatory way, which is far more than simply expressing an opinion about a product.

What does a person's geographic location or demographic have to do with anything? You're basically saying that it wouldn't be an issue if someone from Asia or India said that they didn't like the device. However, if you're from America or somewhere where you "probably" won't purchase the device, you can't comment on it? It just doesn't work that way. Everyone has an opinion of some sort. You don't get to change tweak the rules in such a way that it fits your needs.

You started your arguement off with, "My problem is..."
That's the issue. You are selfishly making it a "Me" thing when nothing I say has anything to do with you.

GSMArena is universal. There will be a difference of opinion within every comment section. And just because don't you like what someone says about a product, or if they don't agree with what you're saying, you turn it into a problem. That puts you at fault, not the person who unknowingly disagrees with you.

You really need to understand the difference between critiquing and bashing. If I don't like a product, I'm not going to say that I do just to please you or anyone else.

i am using xiaomi MI3. Its very good phone, no lag with heavy application/game. Not sure about redmi 1s as the battery is only 2000 mAh, so the backup will not be good. But if we talk about price then this phone is worth.

FreezeGame, 27 Aug 2014First of all, I'm not bashing. Just like you have the right... moreNo bashing - deliberately and repeatedly bashing the same brand
No trolling - deliberately antagonizing other brand/model users
These rules are laid down by Mods of gsmarena , not me .

My problem is that you are unnecessarily criticizing Redmi 1s although it's never going to launch in your native country (assuming that you are from US of A ). This phone is primarily made for developing nations in Asian region where people are still happy with medium specced phones and loathe iphones because of apple's repulsive pricing strategy . You are not from India , you don't belong to China or Singapore yet you are expressing negative views about a device you will probably never see in life . People come on this page to share info and discuss pros and cons with potential buyers , not to listen your crap about how much HTC M8 costs with two year contract .
IN ASIA , a simple selling method is followed whereby sellers buy unlocked devices without any contractual obligation , so within that parameters , Redmi 1s emerges as one of the best VFM mobile . I hope this long reply might satiate your negativity and hostility to some extent . GOD bless you !!

If it's my opinion that this device is cheaply made and will more than likely have flaws, I'm entitled to feel that way. What does that have to do with you, and why are you taking it so personally? My opinions aren't required to catered to your liking.

And you don't have any weight to throw around, so stop acting like it.

            So, what's your problem?

No hesitation to purchase this mobile. I am also using Zync and ZTE mobile with good performance experience. I think it would be better than zync and zte in very chief effective price.

Anonymous, 27 Aug 2014On contract means the following: -Vendor bloatware -Vendo... more-Vendor bloatware

It's there, but lots of it (all if rooted) can be disabled.

-Vendor branding (which means less resale value)

Does it really matter if the phone is branded with another carrier's name? As long as it can be used seems most important.

-Locked to the carrier (can't use it for travel unless you get it unlocked which is generally an additional cost)

Mobile providers have different policies and processes for unlocking phones. Some will only unlock your mobile phone after a certain period of time has passed and will charge a small fee, while some will unlock your phone at any time for free. It just depends.

Lots of phones which are considered world phones are already unlocked. As long as the radios support the frequency that you're looking to use it on, acquiring a sim card and properly configuring the APN yourself is a breeze. On my Verizon Note 3, I've used a prepaid Straight Talk/T-Mobile SIM, and Voice/Data works without issue. And at the end of my contract, I won't need to pay a fee as my device is already unlocked.

                            -Slower updates

This is true, as most carriers want to install their applications on the device, test it and everything. However, outside of Nexus/GPE devices (which gets first dibs on everything), the wait time is not overwhelming. Although LG has been known to be terribly slow (contract or not).

-You will be paying more than the $50 for the phone if you intend on switching carriers while on contract

Normally when you purchase a phone on contract, you have every intention on staying with the service provider. On a large scale, it's not often that consumers break contract. I've been with Verizon for over 10 years. But yes, ETF's do apply if you jump ship.

-You generally get a better plan without phones on contract

Depends on the carrier. There are some pretty decent plans being offered by the big name companies w/ contracts to compete with the smaller "Keep your own device, unlimited everything for $40" contract free providers. Pretty soon, all prices will equalize.
