Nice but the price has jumped. Nexus was previously positioned as the clean, cheap option. Given what one plus is doing via the same direct sales model, this looks over priced.

The use pattern is that the turist after a busy day out and about proceeds to offload all the days pictures and videos onto a USB drive using a OTG cable - if necessary in Y configuration for power by for example an external battery pack - thereby making space for the next day of shooting - an operation that takes a few minutes and doesn't require opening the phone. True - it's one more thing but extra sdcards are also one more thing.
Sure an external battery can be used. I have one - a big one that can charge the phone 3 -4 times before itself needing recharging. But I seldom use it.
But - true - non removable battery is a problem if the battery dies. But do they die this day and age? Mine hasn't yet after several years of use.

Also that cpu is 20nm tech which should save battery. It also says the US is not getting that cpu. Qualcomm is likely happy about that though perhaps not surprised.

There is NO workaround for non-removable battery. You can't use extended battery, and what will you do when the internal battery dies?

Yes the area of touch buttons auto-hides for fullscreen applications, especially video, and there is an option to force fullscreen mode completely and have the buttons auto-hide, similar to Windows taskbar. After using Galaxy Nexus and LG G2, I prefer on-screen buttons myself. The only thing holding me back from gushing over the Nexus 6 is the pocketability of the thing, being such a monster. I have pretty small hands so I'm used to not being able to use all 5.2" of my current screen one-handed, so I don't care about that aspect. But the G2 with slim case already feels like the limit for fitting decently in my pocket. I also kind of want to wait for early 2015 to see if 64-bit SoC actually helps. The Nexus 9 will kind of help show what 64-bit can do. I wonder what the plan is for the app devs. We all know they slack with their Android versions comapred to their iOS ones, so I'm sure they won't even think about converting them to 64-bit for another year or two. Maybe I should just forget about 64-bit. I still kind of doubt the efficiency gains afforded by it, especially with less than 4GB of ram.

Thankfully the base version is 32 GB with support for USB OTG so SD card slot is not required

I am looking at the Nexus6 as possible replacement for my Note 1 because the "The new Note is by no means slow, but it's noticeably less smooth and snappy than devices like the HTC One (M8) and Motorola Moto X" according to "Computerworld"'s deep-dive review. So - that problem apparently is in the customizable part - TouchWiz. I already know lag - my Note 1 has it - and I can't stand it. Upcoming Android L can't fix TouchWiz but the Nexus6 doesn't have it.
The other differences between the Nexus6 and Note4 are small according to gsmarena's compare option under specifications - except the S-pen. And $200. The no replaceable sdcard can be worked around using an external USB drive and an OTG (Y) cable. But the 64GB option should suffice for most for everything until vacation photos and videos can be offloaded. (The best would be a sdcard slot on the side of the phone). The no replaceable battery can be worked around using an external USB battery pack for recharging. The frame and display area are both 10% more and weight is 5% more of the Nexus6 than the Note4. No MHL TV-out can be worked around using Chromecast. The Nexus6 has no fingerprint reader but the one on the Note4 is not working that well anyway I read. The Home button is push on the Note4 but touch on the Nexus6. Is the area of touch buttons on the Nexus6 available for general use - say for video? The Nexus6 has stereo speakers. Neither has FM radio. The bluetooth version on the Nexus6 is not as recent as that of the Note4. But - if the Note4 ran something else instead of TouchWiz I'd be less in doubt.
