LG V30 prototype caught in the wild

Peter, 04 August 2017

Someone had hands-on time with an engineering sample of the LG V30 and managed to take a photo. It’s a photo of the front, but there’s not much to see – the 6” P-OLED display is surrounded by very little in the way of bezels. Note the 2:1 “FullVision” aspect ratio.

The screen is behind Gorilla Glass 5 and promises 148% sRGB coverage and 109% DCI-P3, plus HDR support. LG took precautions to minimize burn-in.

On the other side, there’s a dual camera with an f/1.6 aperture (the brightest phone aperture yet) and a fingerprint reader. The LG V30 will be waterproof and feature a hi-fi Quad DAC.

In terms of size, the V30 will be between the G6 and the Galaxy S8. We’ll meet it at IFA (on September 1) and it should go on sale on September 15 in Korea (September 28 in the US).
