The nubia Pad 3D II launches with an improved glasses-free 3D display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

Avatar 3 is coming out next year – however, we are well past the 3D craze after the first one came out and these days very few people have 3D capable displays at home, much less glasses-free ones. Last year ZTE launched the nubia Pad 3D with a glasses-free 3D display. Now the company has come out with a second generation model with major improvements.

The nubia Pad 3D II is marketed as the “world’s first 5G+AI eyewear free 3D tablet”. It’s quite a mouthful, but it’s correct. The previous model had a Snapdragon 888 chipset and no cell connectivity. This one gets the much newer Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip and it has 5G.

The AI solves the issue of a lack of 3D content – the previous model had a 2D-to-3D converter too, but the new Neovision 3D Anytime is better. It works for pictures, videos (including streaming media) and even games.

The display – a 12.1” IPS LCD with 2,560 x 1,600px resolution (16:10) and 144Hz refresh rate has liquid crystal lenses and promises an 80% increase in 3D resolution and to double the brightness in 3D mode. Additionally, it has reduced 3D crosstalk and improved 3D colors and power efficiency.

The display offers an 86° viewing angle, which allows multiple people to see the 3D effect at the same time. Also, it works in both landscape and portrait mode.

The tablet can also host content from other devices. For example, if you have a ZTE phone, you can stream an app from the phone to the tablet wirelessly where you can interact with it in 3D. You can also use Miracast to cast images to the tablet. Additionally, you can drag and drop a 3D model from a laptop and preview it on the tablet.

The nubia Pad 3D II can also be used to create 3D content. It has a dual 13MP camera on the back and a dual 8MP camera on the front, which can shoot 3D photos and images. And with the new AI engine, it’s easier to get a good shot as the optimal range to the subject is now 2.5 times larger.

The tablet has four DTS:X Ultra enabled speakers that create an immersive 3D soundscape to match the 3D imagery. These are 1W full-frequency speakers. Also, there are two mics with noise cancellation.

We already mentioned that the tablet is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. It is paired with LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB UFS 4.0 storage.

The tablet urns on a 10,000mAh battery that can be recharged quickly at 66W.

The nubia Pad 3D II is up on ZTE’s official site, however, there is no mention of a launch date or price just yet, but we will keep an eye on things.
