AnonD-9070, 27 Jul 2014Need help on the Cyan update. The software update page at N... moreDude, for your case, Microsoft has disabled WP8.1 update to the phones running on Developer Preview. First, you have to download Nokia Software Recovery Tool and revert back to Windows 8 Black. After that, you will get the official Lumia Cyan WP 8.1 via OTA.
Before, updating to 8.1, do a backup of your apps+settings. Copy and backup your photos and videos to PC. Then do a hard reset (Settings > about > Reset your phone). Erases all your phone data and if possible, (optional), format your sd card.
After this step, phone will be have no issues on WP 8.1. A hard-reset is mandatory!

Need help on the Cyan update. The software update page at Nokia website shows Cyan available in India. I am not able to get this to show up on my phone. Have been checking update availability every 2 hours. I am currently rocking WP8.1 DP. Any suggestions?

I upgraded my Lumia 1520 to Windows 8.1 36 hours ago. I find that my battery life is suffering. I could get at least 36 hours on one charge with wifi on constantly and bluetooth activated more than half of the day. Now, I am using around 7% an hour with wifi on only. I have tweaked my apps and settings as minimally as I want to go. I am disappointed and hoping that battery life improves. If not, I will do a factory reset and install my third party apps one at a time in hopes of finding what is draining the battery. I did that with the 925 after installing the developers app and that rectified the situation.
But other than this recent problem, I have had nothing but a great experience with my 1520. I have owned iphone 4s, Galaxy 2, Htc One M8, and I prefer the Windows Phones to Androids or iPhones.

Switch off data sense. It will help the battery to improve.

Hard-reset : Settings > about > Reset your phone... That's what you should do.

Btw guys. My battery drain issue has been solved. When we are updating it to WP 8.1, a hard-reset is a must. Before that you have to backup the app+data settings. I backed up all my photos n videos in my laptop. They erased the phone memory as well as sd card. Then as pointed out by the other mate, I changed the email account download to hourly.
And this helped me to return to the good old days of battery backup like wp 8.
Battery drain has finally been solved. However, I had to reinstall all apps... Not an issue..

Really amazing experience after updating to Lumia cyan.its more smoother than before and more user freindly.The background screen,notification center,new improved camera and Many More.This update is just amazing all new experience to windows phone.The only problem is that battery life is not as good as windows8 black

I am an apple freak but seeing the battery drain so easily i had to buy another phone and within few months I have switched over from Samsung Note 3 to Samsung S5 and now on Sony Xperia Z2, there's still something missing i guess. I ordered the NOKIA 1520 lets see how it goes. Anything i should keep in Mind? Please throw in your suggestions. Would love to know more about Windows.
