NTT DoCoMo bound Tizen smartphone clears FCC

NTT DoCoMo could be the first carrier to offer a Tizen powered device. A smartphone powered by Samsung's own OS with model number SC-03F has obtained FCC certification.

The SC-03F is rumored to feature design which is similar to the current flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S4. Samsung's upcoming device is said to be 136.1mm long and about 69.1mm wide. There is no word on the hardware specifications at the moment.

Samsung smartphone with Tizen OS has been making rounds in rumorland for quite a while now. The Korean giant is expected to showcase its first Tizen device at the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Basically Tizen will compete directly with Ubuntu Touch, indirectly with Android, and remotely to other open OSes. No OS out of the box will compete with Android on a feature to feature basis; it'd be silly; Android has taken many years to mature to...
