Samsung Galaxy S6 edge review: Double down

3 April, 2015
How big of an impact can a small change have? The Samsung Galaxy S6 edge has only the extra screen curves compared to the vanilla Galaxy S6, but these two phones couldn’t feel any more different - a difference that you can readily feel when you...

FreezeGame, 04 Apr 2015"The TouchWiz software on the new Samsung Galaxy S6 ed... moreIt's never been as big an issue in the first place. Especially the past couple generations. The S3 even still runs very solid.

Bit people still claim that all the lag in the world is Touchwiz. Just like they still make the saturated claims in Amoled. Just like still saying it's an ugly device. Just like the s even plastic was never bad build quality and aside from the rim in fact used premium materials that were more durable.

People are just jealous and always going to hate. The internet is still going to be filled with iOS users saying android does nothing but lag but iOS is perfect and android users saying it's all Touchwiz and its alot while ttheir favorite brand runs perfect...when in reality all OS's have hiccups.

ithehappy, 04 Apr 2015Absolutely. Also good and cheap can't be mentioned in th... moreWhile I agree to the point of you get what you pay for and the S6 has the most advanced and expensive tech. You are completely wrong to say good and cheap cannot be in the same sentence. Even great and cheap can be. Obviously you won't get the S6 cheap, unless you count how decently it's priced on us contracts.

And yes. Very excited and worried for the Note 5. I think Samsung will try to improve on the design, but also will recognize that Note users are more power users and noon removable back, while looks stunning on the S6, would really turn up the hate.
Hopefully they add enough pins to use full speed memory and add the SD slot and get water protection in with a uab 3.0 return. I sadly doubt there will be stereo speakers. And add a larger battery or else lol.

Daaaaaamn that's one beautiful phone. And that battery life is excellent for a QHD display and 2600mah.

Anonymous, 04 Apr 2015Think it's a lie we need real testers who owned it weeks...Of course you do. Even though it's only logical considering how much more efficient most of the parts are. And devices like the Alpha, QHD S5, the Note 4, and so on only further back it up. And the lower score was from a prw production unit which many other sites found to last longer than gsmarenas original finding.

ithehappy, 04 Apr 2015Absolutely. Also good and cheap can't be mentioned in th... moreYeah, that Samsung mongoose core rumors for the Note 5 peaked my interest. I'll wait late this year before deciding on the S6 or the Note 5.

If Samsung designed a more power-efficient CPU and couple it with a 3200+ mAH battery, the battery life of the Note 5 would be phenomenal.

"The TouchWiz software on the new Samsung Galaxy S6 edge is silky smooth with no slowdowns. TouchWiz gets a lot of hate over perceived lag, but there is none on the Galaxy S6 edge and it features smooth Lollipop-like animated transitions, which makes the experience even better."

From now on, TouchWiz lag arguments are fraudulent. End of story. Period.

Great hardware/software makes the Galaxy S6 the best device on the market. It's powerful, fast, feature rich, and premium. Nothing else comes close.

I think GSMArena should improve its brightness testing for smartphons as i have read everywhere that iphone6 gote to 600 nits at max brightness and z3 goes till 700 ..they are claiming to be over 700 nits for iphone and 800 for z3. Moreoer gs5 is brighter THAN s6edge??? No way.

Does anyone know What model of Huawei he thinks of, when mentioning low light capabilities?

[deleted post]People don't care when they pay for a Ferrari, so those who actually are interested for this won't look at the price either.

And those who'll feel jealous but won't be able to purchase it will keep saying rubbish things, comparing Apples and Oranges as they have been doing for quite a while, for eg. Moto Maxx vs Note Edge, or something like that.

Anonymous, 03 Apr 2015Usually, you pay for what you get.Absolutely.

Also good and cheap can't be mentioned in the same sentence.

Anyway, I'm fascinated after reading the review. Took one hour and read every word (have never done that before!). Samsung indeed is way ahead of the competition here, 14 nm chipset already, jeez!

Camera quality is very very good I think. The NAND is 3 times faster than other flagship phones. Screen, well, unbeatable, get over that. The biggest shock actually is how less cluttered TouchWiz looks now, I guess Samsung is listening to me (and others of course), because I don't see any Smart features there, at least not in the notification toggles (I mean those useless Smart Pause, Smart Stay, Smart Scroll etc.).

I can't wait for the Note 5 honestly.

Great job Sammy, can't believe I just said that, probably the first time.

I believe the 14 nanometre processor makes all the difference in terms of power efficiency.

In any case, Samsung is way ahead of the competition. Best screen, best camera, best memory, best CPU, most advanced UI (multi window is quite useful as is customisable theming etc - touchwizz or not), best build quality.

Apple cannot even help but tap Samsung's processor and memory expertise.

Samsung has reacted positively to the slap it got last year. I hope other Android manufacturers (Apple is complacent thanks to its captured audience) hit back with even better devices....I am looking at you Sony.

FM radio? You should be still living 10 years in the past. Who needs FM radio on a mobile when there is so many online?
Stereo speakers? That's phone, not a tablet. Put your headphones on. You can't really enjoy stereo sound without them on such small device.

I had an n8 before.. There was a developer app called sleeping screen for it that kept the screen always on.. It showed only the clock date alarm and charging notifications... What Samsung is doing is grouping together all the good stuff.. Kudos.. But the only thing i hate is having to pay a premium for getting the higher memory versions of the phone(or any phone for that matter). Not a fan of blinkfeed since data in my country is costlier than gold n diamonds
