Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P hands-on: First look

28 September, 2015
This year we get double the Nexus phone action - the 5.2" Nexus 5X and the 5.7" Nexus 6P, brought by LG and Huawei respectively. They come to replace the two-year old Nexus 5 and the fresher Nexus 6. There's a new Android tablet too, but it's not a Nexus!

first Motorola went retard and now google. What's the point of coming up with two models of a phone if they are both going to be huge. At lest offer one decent sized phone. while 5.2 in. is not huge, those bezels make this a damn big phone.

So funny how people complain about no OIS, OIS is SHIT in mobiles, software Stabilization is much better, sadly though most companies don't do it well.

However Sony on the other hand with the Z5... apparently the most stable video and it has no OIS..

AnonD-135930, 30 Sep 2015There is no version 2.1 or whatever... It's the MSM8994... ... moreI believe that you are aware that it's a Google phone... It's a nexus... I dont think that Google didn't considered those factors... It was stated in the previous articles that they used v2.1 anyway ... Cmon dude... It's made by Google... And nexus devices are supposed to be the "ideal smartphones"...
It's how Google envisioned how a smartphone should be...

Nexus 5x may be from polycarbonate, but it is NOT unibody for sure: it has the same bad frame as the prior one: a plastic frame with a back cover, which in time may get loose, allowing moist and dust to enter inside.

Why is *anyone* doing a 500 dollar phone without O.I.S. in 2015?

AnonD-418881, 29 Sep 2015SD810 v2.1 have you noticed that ?? that means heat is u... moreThere is no version 2.1 or whatever... It's the MSM8994... The same chip found in HTC One M9, LG G Flex 2, OnePlus Two, and every other phone that has a Snapdragon 810... They just lower the clock as HTC did so the device does not heat up, but then you get a reduced performance... Add a 2K display and you got the reduced performance + the overheating issue again...

No wonder they name it 5X because it's just "in-between-move" from nexus 5 to nexus whatever the number.
The difference only appears like "S" series of iPhone. The chipset used speaks itself, snapdragon 800 to 80x.
                      No significant upgrade.
I think this nexus is just refresh series.

Really disappointed at the UK pricing (again UK having to pay more!) And the 2GB ram! Wish it had 3GB. At the 32GB GBP379 price point I'd get the lg g4!

I would say the 6P has some crappy design decisions. Why make it 5.7 inch? Just to be in line with Samsung and Apple? A full-fledged 6 inch would have been great, since buyers are already making the leap upwards from 5.5 inch. Then the battery size seems a step down from Huawei's own Mate 7 from last year, when they managed to fit 4000 mAh. And they could have done it here too, if only they did not shoot for the "slimmest possible phone" trophy. They needed to make that bevel for the camera anyway, why not have it on the same level with the rest of the phone and include a larger battery? I'm still curious if the Snapdragon 810 overheats throttles itself to underperform on this phone as well.

...it seems I'm not going to buy a Nexus this year.

I was really looking forward to getting the Nexus 5X but am disappointed as it is missing some of the key features like OIS and Wireless Charging. Also, the stereo speakers were a let down. & 2Gb RAM??? What's the point of having it with a 64-bit chipset? It is going to be laggy and obsolete in 6 months. I was hoping for at least 3Gb.

Google you've let the flagship killers kill Nexus 5X all over again.
