Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P hands-on: First look

28 September, 2015
This year we get double the Nexus phone action - the 5.2" Nexus 5X and the 5.7" Nexus 6P, brought by LG and Huawei respectively. They come to replace the two-year old Nexus 5 and the fresher Nexus 6. There's a new Android tablet too, but it's not a Nexus!

mr Mariele, 30 Sep 2015with so much clamor for an expandable storage, why do these... moreAmen bro...I agree a thousand percent. That's why I am seriously thinking of the LG G4 or the rumored G4 Pro/V10. I also really like the Moto X Force but for some reason Motorola is pulling a bonehead move by refusing to bring it to their fans in the US that are not on Verizon. Not everyone wants a Phablet (Google realized that with the Nexus 6, hence the two SIZED Nexus 5X and 6P), and instead of buying the oversized Moto Pure Edition... many will spring for the reasonably sized 5.2" Nexus 5X. I hope they finally come to their senses and also unleash the Moto Force unlocked to other fans in the US. Will be nice to see how that competition ends up with the Nexus 5X.

I was really looking forward to getting the Nexus 5X but am disappointed as it is missing some of the key features like OIS and Wireless Charging. Also, the stereo speakers were a let down. & 2Gb RAM??? What's the point of having it with a 64-bit chipset? It is going to be laggy and obsolete in 6 months. I was hoping for at least 3Gb.

Google you've let the flagship killers kill Nexus 5X all over again.

regs, 29 Sep 2015Yes. It has Adreno 418 that is same old 420 rebranded for S... moreGraphics benchmarks put the Adreno 418 nearer the 330 than the 420, but this should still be good enough for a 1080p phone.

Nexus 6P looks a bit ugly at the back with big bar of protruding glass at the camera area.

For the so called beefed up per pixel size and f2.0 aperture the samples are really substandard compared even my Oneplus One. Need to know the ISO settings to know more but it doesn't look good at all.

I think the black bar with the nfc is to make android pay easier....hope it makes signal reception also better
Btw the official cases covers up the bar nicely

hmm, 29 Sep 2015still no sd card ? whatever google....i'll wait for project ara.with so much clamor for an expandable storage, why do these morons still do not make a phone with expandable memory slots? buyers would like to have the freedom of either using cloud storage or expandable phone memory. we buyers should not let these companies to force down our throats their non-expandable memory phones. WE should have the freedom of choice!

Nexus 5X .... Fills the shoes of Nexus flagship, except 2GB RAM, rest all makes sense to a typical Nexus device with this price tag. Of course its not that premium like iPhone or S6, but do we all use those premium features on daily basis, something we need to think while spending couple extra. I have been Nexus 5 user since 2013, I am gonna buy this as soon as its available...

Why no wireless charging on the 5x? Seems like an odd choice given the Nexus lines long history of wireless charging support. Not to mention Samsung's huge push with the technology making wireless more mainstream on Android. Baffling that Google would chose NOW to abandon it.
