Blind shootout revealed: Nexus 6P vs. LG V10 vs. Galaxy Note5

11 January, 2015
Stop us if you've heard this one before – the Samsung Galaxy Note5, LG V10 and Huawei Nexus 6P walk into the GSMArena office... and, of course, we pit them head to head. We'll publish a full vs. article, but first let's see what you think about the cameras of those three phones.

            My analysis:
            Group 1
            A. N5 shoots soft (less sharpened) photos, and it has been like this since S6. Despite this, it has disconcerting sharpening halo worse than the V10. Good color tone.
            B. 6P overexposed.
            C. V10 has overall good tone without over saturation. However, the oversharpening introduced a ton of jagged steps. Very obvious on the small OMV and the power lines. Although less exposed than the N5, it retained less detail in the blown highlights on the building to the left.
            D. Meizu shot a great photo. Sharpening artifacts abound, but less of eye cancer amount than the V10. Oversaturation made the picture look cartoony. Blown highlights have very little details. The dark tree looks like a blurry mess. Small OMV have obvious steps.
I hate the oversharpened look of the last 2, which made N5 the only sensible choice for me.

            Group 2
            A. Large OMV sign looks the most natural. Dark tree from last group looks like a blurry mess. The tallest tree on the left retailed the most individual branches without going overboard with the sharpening (looking at you, Meizu).
            B. Weird white balance (green cast) and exposure again. Less overexposed, so now you can see that it tend to blur finer details away. Vegetations are horrific looking.
            C. Oversharpened look but more natural looking than the cartoony look on the gravel near the rails. Tall tree is a blurry mess.
            D. Slight red cast. Very artificial looking. Gravel looks bad.
Toss up between V10 and N5.

            Group 3.
            A. Slight green cast. The green bloom at the gas station is ew. Looks like slightly more exposed than the other (except V10). May have bumped the ISO and therefore had to use more noise reduction. The image is REALLY soft. Noise reduction gave it a cartoony look.
            B. IMO the most properly exposed out of the bunch. Noise reduction really messes with the detail. I prefer more noise to retain more detail. The noise reduction didn't go overboard compared to the other regarding making the picture look cartoony.
            C. Overexposed IMO. The best looking noise reduction of the bunch, no contest. However, even with the N5's agressive noise reduction, it kept more details on the fence of the gas station than the V10. I bet the picture would have came out much better if it had not opt to expose the picture this much.
            D. Meizu is just bad in this picture. Blurry cartoony noisy mess. At least it got the exposure right (IMO anyways).
Toss up between 6P and V10. I want to lean toward the 6P for the less cartoon look.

            Summary:
N5: Natural looking colors. Soft pictures (i prefer soft and sharpening in post).
            6P: Needs much work.
V10: Probably my favorite overall IF they can remove the oversharpening.
Meizu: So far, the best looking photos out of a Chinese handset yet. They got many aspect of the picture processing just about right (night photo not withstanding). The sharpening they do is pretty good without excessive haloing. I wonder if people just click on the small picture once and voted from there? Meizu really is not bad when not looking closely.

my favorite in 1 & 2 was D then it goes mostly to C....i guess my choices at all will be the Note 5 shots..

and i was preferring to add LG G4 to the comparison really it's a very unique camera...

Interesting to see Meizu doing well in the camera department. Now all we need is some affordable mid range prices flagship that perform as good as those 1k phones in all departments it will be time to save some money while getting a deal good.

How Meizu could win 1. test ? Look and cdn.gsmarena.com/imgroot/reviews/16/note5-v10-nexus6p-vs/blind/crops/-728/crop1-blind.jpg
Meizu is D on D i dont see inscription on the banner with the price of gasoline. On B ( Huawei Nexus) i see nothing, on D (Meizu) only Maxx, on A (Samsung) Maxx and almost all Motion and winner is C - LG V10 i see all Maxx Motion. In my opinion Meizu cant win.
The 2 - Best day time photo is not best pic for judge, missing images with more variation of colors.
In test like that you GSMARENA should use good natural pic to compare made by DSLR. because sometines phone pics are similar and its hard to say which e.g. colors is true.
                                    best wishes
