Blind shootout revealed: Nexus 6P vs. LG V10 vs. Galaxy Note5

11 January, 2015
Stop us if you've heard this one before – the Samsung Galaxy Note5, LG V10 and Huawei Nexus 6P walk into the GSMArena office... and, of course, we pit them head to head. We'll publish a full vs. article, but first let's see what you think about the cameras of those three phones.

Despite the old Z1-Z3+ sensor using in MX5Pro, the picture still turn out to be very good. This prove that image processing can be a game changer. In your face SONY ! (I'm Sony user btw(

While I'm sure the test might have been more pure if the pictures were taken at exactly the same time...it's hard to argue that good photos aren't actually good. I can promise you that any number of phones, were they swapped in for the Meizu, would have looked a lot worse than the Note5. That the Meizu looked as good as it does is not a function of the light...it's a function of the device.

I have owned the first 4 notes but the Note 5 is a real let down.
My GN4 can have 264GB of storage but Samsung is only selling 32GB GN5s in my country. Also, battery life isn't as good and there is no removable battery.

Now we see that the GN5 camera isn't keeping pace with the leaders. GET IT TOGETHER SAMSUNG!

Cause there were a lots of times that i have taken a bad/ average photos with a given smartphone but only withen a minute or so due to sunlight and cloud condition changes with the same smartphone the same scene photo which was bad earlier , later on it turned up to be very detailed and great cause the light conditions improved not because there was some magic on the smartphone.
I bet u have also gone through this type of situation while clicking photos .

People and cars are not the complete base of my arguement...they are a part of it & Dude people do not move as quickly as u think they move.
but yes both the things depends on the type of place where the ppl and cars are.but in this blind test it does not seem that they were in any kind of hurry to move quickly. Lol.

Jose, 12 Jan 2016Disappointed in the N5 on this. Good one on LG, good sensor... moreThe problem with the g4 and the v10 is, if it's getting darker they will blow out highlights a lot, you lose a lot of color variety and you get a grey leyer above the whole picture. They can revolve a lot of detail when it's dark but they cannot provide good looking fotos anymore

I sold my s6 in favour to the 6p because of the camera, I would not consider me a nexus fanboy since I paid about the same money for both phones

Understandably, I assume it was considered unfair to use HDR+ mode for the Nexus 6P, but I'd at least like to see some examples put up against the other shots, if you have them somewhere. After all, it's a more accurate representation of what most people will get out of the camera.

                                      Looking at people is irrelevant.
People will not change the exposure.

If you see the same cloudformation, in about the same place, that means that clouds are not moving that quickly, or the shots are taken close to eachother in time. The shooter will therefor not be surpriced by a cloud suddenly altering the light situation from one device to another.

And yes you should look at skies in a shoot-out, it's very relevant to how the sky is exposed. That is often an issue for cameras, especially the ones with small sensors and bad dynamic range.

You can't say that the light situation, probably changed dramatically between shots, because people and cars on the move or about to move, have moved. That happens quite quickly. The clouds will tell you much more about the light situation changes.

Even with a multi-trigger setup, used with different models of cameras, you will discover that people and cars are not in the exact same place. Due to different trigger lag.
Sure the difference would be a lot less.
But if people and cars are the base for your argument about light situation, then that slight difference should tell you that there might be a dramatic difference between shots from different devices.

good to see some comparison i do think with the nexus the HDR+ deffantly needs to be on as this reduce grain in low light and also helps over overexposure ..note 5 does really well
