This phone is a great phone by far, well worth the money if not more. I used to have a s23 ultra and got this phone to replace it and it performs as well as my S23 ultra. I've owned it for 3 months so far and I have 0 complaints. I know Oxygen OS is a little different then One UI and Stock Android and I think that is where some people have complaints is there not familiar on how to use it but just like anything it just takes time and experience with the OS

Dave, 30 Jul 2023Thinking about this (or a Galaxy A54) to replace my 4 year-... moreDon't buy the Galaxy a54, it's overpriced and terrible value for money, if you have 400-500 dollars to spend on a phone, buy either of the following options :
        1.Oneplus 12r
        2.poco f5 of f5 pro
        3.Motorola Edge+ (2023)
        4.oneplus 11r
        5.xiaomi 13t

Either of these 5 devices are great value for money and have very powerful processors, making them to never slow down , lots of ram and storage, fast charging(with charger in the box), and great displays. They are all great but the best value out of all these is the poco f5 because it comes with a base storage of 256gb and has a 12bit display

I purchased this phone last week.
Still waiting for OnePlus/Oppo to give me some random bs excuse for advertising the SD card as being expanded storage and not provide access for the user. Aside from that, it's a pretty solid device for the money. The trade-off for the price are the 108mp camera and 5G capability.

Dave, 30 Jul 2023Thinking about this (or a Galaxy A54) to replace my 4 year-... moreIDK which phone you chose but the A54 is a solid mid ranger, I have used both and honestly the N30 isn't too bad but if you wanted a cooler color just buy the CE 3 lite unlocked globally in that awesome lime green and it's the SAME phone.

I have tested it significantly and someone had stated it's super sensitive, yes it IS extremely important to go into settings and adjust the pointer speed and also adjust the sides sliding sensitivity otherwise I also think this could break nuclear codes 🤣. I put in a Kingston branded 512gb SD card and it runs flawlessly. I'm impressed by all it's features UNTIL you get to the camera. The camera is it's number one downfall.

Thinking about this (or a Galaxy A54) to replace my 4 year-old Pixel 3a XL, which is starting to freeze and stutter... I'm a little concerned about the camera, but otherwise it looks perfect for what I want/need (mid-range). Bonus - it's free with a ported number on Metro by T-Mobile. I'm finally ditching Verizon! :-) Anyone have a N30 5G and have any real-life experience with the camera, especially as compared to older Pixels perhaps?

I just ordered because I had heard good things, but this video, so far of what I've watched, makes it seem like an unlikeable phone. I'm glad you wrote a review!

I actually just came from having both an iPhone SE 2022, say what you want but the phone is lightning fast even at bare bones specs with its processor being grossly overpowered for the ancient specs, and also a Google Pixel 6a, I’m praying the oneplus exceeds my expectations. I’ve been shadowing oneplus over the years but never pulled the trigger on getting one. Finally yesterday I ordered one with T-Mobile and praying it’s a decent phone. Having a tough time finding cases but it’s to be expected being so new. I’ll update when I do my own tests. I’m a coder and cybersecurity consultant, I essentially beat the crap out of my phones by jail breaking them and attempting to fully use all their power settings until they either die from unnatural causes, overheat and start smoking (think Note 7) or simply start on fire while charging. I’m a different breed.

Many people probably don't use their phones a lot so don't suffer from it. But many IPS tv's flicker as badly as oleds do, yet people seem fine. They are probably more likely to be very stress resistant. I would suspect it's the "more sensitive to little things in general" folk that suffer from pwm flickering.

They are just attributing it to other things. Long COVID, getting older, stress, etc.

Pwm flicker everywhere might be the cigarettes of our time.

1/10 people cannot tolerate this flickering and gives them terrible eyestrain and/or headache.

Even if I wasnt sensitive to this personally I still wouldn't want to use oled, because whatever is irritating someone that much can't be healthy.

Open your smartphone camera app, change shutter speed to lowest (at least 1/4000) and start filming your tv from up close (change setting from normal to gaming mode to photo mode to see if there is a difference)

Then film a normal IPS phone or ipad.
                              Then film any oled screen.

The visible lines black lines on OLED look super weird.
That's what the eyes of people have to deal with daily, even when they're not sensitive to eyestrain caused by oled.

For that price it was very cool. Camera that beat the iphone 6/6s, snapdragon 8 series chipset, back e-ink display (that I read e-books on) and a beautiful OLED display: sharp and colourful. Huge step up from my previous iphone 5s.

I used it up until 2021 where I water damaged it permanently (couldn't find replacement digitizers unfortunately). Was perfectly fine, lived on Android 6 no issues BUT sadly it started to overheat a lot near the end of its life.

And I really miss the wireless charging.

Contrarily, I'd say OLED displays shouldn't be on laptops, since they can even last for 10 years. At that point panel durability is a valid concern, so LCD is the better choice.

David, 18 Jun 2023I'm not sure what this obsession of OLED is all about.... moreMost consumers use their smartphones for 3-4 years max so they don't care, they don't take that into account. The most important in a screen (for consumers) is if the colors are stunning, if it's very smooth and fast and if it's very bright.
