Nick Tegrataker, 26 Mar 2024To prove the point that I made in my previous comment: The... moreMath is right, but how do you know that Xiaomi is using native 65mm equivelent lens??

If in manual mode it is saying 54mm, than it is 54mm lens. On automatic mode Xiaomi is croping to get 65mm. A 65mm native lens will always be 65mm in both native and manual mode.

A very unpleasant photo overprocessing all over the board. Ultrawide, Selfie and 5x Tele are "ultra" disappointing, not worth Xiaomi Ultra name.

You write that the price is high, it is high for Europe because you don't want competition and you set high price and write about it, nice done Europe.
Buy it in China it is much cheaper.

        @gsmarena team:
Thanks for the very useful review.
Would you mind doing a head to head comparison or even a blind camera test between the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, The Vivo X100 pro and the Galaxy S24 Ultra?
I remember you did such tests between top camera phones back in the day and they were hugely popular.
Would love to see that again, if possible.

        Best regards!

Anonymous, 26 Mar 2024Remember the mi 13 series difference between auto and manua... moreNick is referring to the physical focal length of the lens and doing all the calculations by themselves. The reason why Xiaomi got caught 'faking' the 35mm equivalent focal length of the telephoto lens is that they included its real physical focal length which did not add up to the advertised 72mm field of view after applying the sensor's crop factor to its calculation formula.

Anonymous, 26 Mar 2024Lens is not 65mm. DCS said months ago there is so crop. ... moreYou do not understand, do you? Nick is calculating his numbers from official specs and exif embedded onto the sample photos so they are accurate. Your go-to 'leaker' isn't using the officially supplied information so making a wrong guess which is very easy for anyone to disprove. DCS was not accurate with his claim, I did my own calculation and am seeing that Nick is right.

You lost your argument dude, stop doubling down on your mistake and just move on.

Exif data of auto mode tells you it is 75mm, you have learned it is not.

Nick Tegrataker, 26 Mar 2024Oppo uses a native 65mm FoV lens for their telephoto lens -... moreLens is not 65mm.
DCS said months ago there is so crop.
                      Exactly like x6 pro.

If you crop 1.1x from 54mm, result is 65,34mm.
Then you have 41.320.000 pixels that output 10,33MP that get upscaled to 12.5
At this difference, quality loss is hard to notice.

Anonymous, 26 Mar 2024Other are using 1/2" because their lenses are 100 or 1... moreTo prove the point that I made in my previous comment:
                        The diagonal length of a 35mm sensor = 43.3mm
The diagonal length of a type 1/1.56 sensor = 10.24mm (According to Sony)
The physical focal length of the 2.6x telephoto camera on Oppo Find X6 Pro/X7 Ultra mentioned in the EXIF = 15.38mm

(43.3/10.24) * 15.38 = 65.03mm FoV, which is in line with the official spec provided by Oppo. You really need to validate the source of information before posting them confidently..

It's a big shame you don't mention a important stuff about 14 Ultra like extreme overheating and main lens fogging which makes videos useless. This is reported by many users already.

Anonymous, 26 Mar 2024Other are using 1/2" because their lenses are 100 or 1... moreOppo uses a native 65mm FoV lens for their telephoto lens - it's not cropped from 54mm (I have no idea how you managed to pull that figure out of thin air) which becomes obvious if you do the math correctly. Try recalculating the crop factor using the correct physical focal length information contained in the EXIF.

walkman8, 26 Mar 2024Or the battle of all Ultras: x7 Ultra vs 14 Ultra vs s24 Ultra aye! Include ASUS Zenphone 11 Ultra too!

when will gsm arena mention that hyper os downgrades xiaomi phones that had miui? the screen off listening feature has been blatantly removed.

It is a pity that GSMArena does not do controller camera tests anymore. I really miss the low light video frames.

While oppo has 54mm digitally cropped to output 65mm.
The longer is the range, the harder to fit larger cmos.
Vivo X100 Ultra crops 200mp to 160 behind 100mm. Then output 10MP and upscale to 12.5MP.

1/1.5' behind 50mm is slimmer module than same 1/1.5" behind 125mm.
