Email used to be a part of the corporate world and now it’s increasingly becoming an essential means of communication for the lot of us – not just the white-collar kind. So if you can’t fight it, the best thing to do is get yourself properly equipped – and the Nokia E5 is...

I brought this phone from Bahrain 3 weeks back and now regret for buying this one - within three weeks I have taken twice to the servicing agent for repair the phone goes dead completely - NO WONDER NOKIA IS LOSSING MARKET SHARE - I hope this time they will replace the set for me!! This is made in China product - more than 10 yrs I always buy NOKIA phones and all of the Made in Finland. Buy only Finland made NOKIA products!!!

      Guys, you said:
"2.36" 256K-color QVGA display of excellent sunlight legibility"
      and
"Better yet, sunlight legibility won’t let you down either."

Yet two other reviews I've read list the poor screen (it's not transflective and completely washes out in the sun) as THE major downside of this phone.

Even the E63's screen beats it here.
Any corrections to be made here?

The worst thing about this phone is being a 3G phone it does not have the front camera.

How does nokia want us to operate this phone without the front Vga camera??

        Cheap act !!!

I have it. This is just cheaper version of e72. And a little improved maybe in some areas.

Works great. Stable, fast, does what it is for: smsing, calling, email, internet (great browser), great mp3 quality on phones. Some a-gps (with free ovi maps & navi), good pim.

And I'm recharging it once per week. AMAZING. Give me any smartphone that holds such long time on battery !

The only cons I have is keyboard. It is good, responding. But hard, not as soft as in e72, which I prefer. But E5 is 100$ cheaper. So great deal anyway.

I wish this phone had come 5 months back. I wouldn't have bought the blackberry curve. Excellent phone. great reviews.

Review said, " unless the web page opens a pop-up" (Regarding being unable to open another window in the browser.

The way around this is if a shortcut key is set on the main screen for web (eg Carrier may make the right key under the screen the default link to the carrier's webpage)than all you do is press this while the browser is open.

I.E, your in the browser, press the menu key (or hold) to get back to the main screen and press that button. I find this than does open another page in the browser which you than can flick back and forth.

Even better when in the browser you have shortcuts attributed to numbers i.e number 3 opens url bar etc.

Advantage of that is for example, your at Facebook, open another browser and while its opening, press your shortcut, type the link and press go, than you go back and open another browser which you can open another link.

                :D

Nokia, its way past the time that you should have launched an E series Touch Screen phone with a slide out keyboard. I don't know what marketing guys at Nokia are doing. Take a hint from huge Legendary successes like SE experia x1, HTC Touch pro and Touch pro 2, and samsung omnia b7610 pro(though its sales sucked but features wise its a good value for money). You need to give your business users flexibility and the pro flavor which should come with high end business devices.
on the one hand you market your n97s n n900s as laptop replacement gadgets, and forget to include document editing functioning in it... like hello!!! u need a computer to edit stuff and print it and sometimes business users are travelling or busy somewhere, and a feature like this is highly desirable.
my last comment is on your display resolution, please its time you abandon the qvga resolution, which dinosaurs used. Make VGA a standard for your mid tier devices and HVGA for high end.
and last i laugh at people who fret about display colors, i mean how on earth u can distinguish between a 262k screen and 16million color screen. we do not use cell phones to select the next paint color for our homes... what is really critical in a small screen is the resolution which makes the images crisp and clear

Only the name E5 is new,,, Remaining(features, Quality, Speed)
are same.... Just making fool of people by just changing names and colour only but still many people will buy it and prove that they are fool ha....ha....ha...

sunil, 22 Aug 2010right said peter.......... its really hard to type on a to... moreI enjoyed peter's comments also. but I disagree with the Wifi conclusion. I find the wireless N to be Much better than 3G. As such, it's required in all new devices that I purchase. In fact, Wireless N backed by a cable modem is better than ATT provided DSL.

touch screen phones really suck when one is trying to navigate the computer based answering system. ie

"press one for english" I have to find out how to turn screen on, get a numeric keypad & press one with a touchscreen device. add bright sunlight and the probability of success becomes a problem.

"press 6 for account balance" is also a challenge.

                                "enter account number"

Video calls camera ? Another feature for teenagers ? There is no real application for that. I saw nobody using this. Or.. sorry. I saw one girl, screaming to her phone and making foolish faces. So, I think video calls camera maybe strongly useful, but only for idiots.

Everything looks and feels great about the e5. My only complaint is Nokia should start implementing a good optical trackpad like those BBs.

Absence of secondary camera is an advantage. Who is using video calls? - nobody.
This feature is dying. Secondary cameras will dissapear from phones.
