04 May 2011
There’s a new kid on the mobile display block, LG’s NOVA LCD display. It promises to be the dream screen – it’s super bright, energy efficient, with great colors, viewing angles and outdoor visibility. We’ll be running our...

Retina display is best. See, even GSM Arena admit it.

why do people not remember that LG is the one making the retina display? its pretty obvious that they will save the best technology for their own phones.. i have high expectations from the nova displays.

One thing I notice is that the Atrix Pentile LCD brightness comes very close to that of the NOVA display...
And judging by GSMarena pics comparison, on Atrix review, whites are also better on the atrix than other phones, though it seems as it tends to tint black in a reddish tone...

Perhaps NOVA is better but Atrix comes very close

'' Meh, the only "screen" that matches ppi of the forbidden fruit mobile is the Samsung Wave (GT-S8500), no other mobile comes close.

            Forbidden Fruit
            640 x 960 pixels, 3.5 inches
            = 274ppi

            Samsung Wave
            480 x 800 pixels, 3.3 inches
            = 242ppi

Then you need to have a look at the underlying technology
            IPS LCD v Super AMOLED

Many people who use the Forbidden Fruit mobile say theirs is the best in daylight, tilt daylight and internal conditions, yet when they have a look at the Wave's Super AMOLED screen in the same conditions they all say that the Wave has better performance levels.

Then in terms of battery consumption its well known in the TV sector that Edge-Lit and Full Back-lit LED TV's have lower power usage which also reflects in mobile technology, Nokia even knows this as they current batch of S^3 handsets are AMOLED, Samsung have known since their first AMOLED handset the Omnia HD (back in March 2009) and even Forbidden Fruit know this also as the next IPHONE will have AMOLED screen which is why LG have decided to "only now" start to develop their own IPS LCD screens for their handset range as their is no longer a no compete clause from Forbidden Fruit company to prevent LG from doing so.

In fact the next IPHONE screen will come from Samsung will be AMOLED but wont be called AMOLED based technology as Forbidden Fruit company like to take things that are already developed and made and then claim it as their own new technology that they invented '' -Microplex

            Nicely said..

Enough of the crap abt viewing angles...!!! this is completely useless
I wonder if there is anyone in this world who uses their phone or watches movies by keeping phone at an angle of 180 degree^
Is there anyone idiot enough to do that ???

''Retina display is still the best LCD around''

Hey GSMArena, Retina the best LCD around? You must be wrong somewhere, because in the Iphone 4 vs. Galaxy S you gave Retina 9/10 and Super Amoled 10/10.

I really love your site, but I think being coherent wouldn't be bad.

It's done in a more professional manner. So go read you amateur reviews over at other sites and leave the professional ones to the true fans.

Why do they keep referring to retina as a display?? It is a resolution! Ips LCD is the display. They are not referring to the Amoleds as wvga.. Anyways. It appears that the SAmoled still is best.

True black, best color saturation, lowest power consumption, least amount of space used, unrivaled contrast, best outdoors.

Now if Samsung would just put a higher resolution it would be the end of the battles, but other screens have same or higher resolution on smaller screens so they are slightly sharper.
