MWC 2012: HTC overview

26 February 2012
HTC enter the MWC with a brand new lineup: the HTC One series. The most impressive is the oft-leaked One X. A 1.5Ghz quad-core makes it the company's most powerful smartphone to date. The other smartphones in the line, the One XL, V, and S will all feature Beats audio.

HTC One X, is a very good phone. Picture quality is worth 8mp. Video quality is amatuer but good enough for clips, good part is taking picture while in video mode or watching a video.
Phone calls are good. SMS is good. Data is good. Ran into the "WIFI" issue, but fixed with re-soldering the contacts. Only thing lacking is accessories, cases etc...
Multi-tasking is EASY, phone never confuses itself and freezes or shuts down on itself. I frequently reset my phone every other day, at least once a week to clear out the data cache. Browser experience is okay for on the, rather use laptop or desktop for hours of browsing etc...
I had the OTTER box to secure my phone, but it brings the bulkiness back up a notch or two. When I use without, the power button becomes an easy target for resetting itself! Grrrr... Volume rocker is nice. I dont have a BEATS headset to feel/hear the BEATS experience the One X has, to be continued.
Overall GREAT phone! I'd buy again, and again. The latest HTC ONE, I dont know about switching over... We'll See...

Super awesome phone series.. If I know HTC, which I do, I know this series is gonna rock. Just wish the prices weren't too high.
They should've included a card slot as well but apparently 32GB is the maximum memory supported for smart phones.
Will buy it as soon as I have enough cash.

Obviously with small field of view and 12MP, picture will have finer detailing.

I used this phone yesterday at my local store in Taiwan for nearly 30 minutes.

Here's a brief summary and this will help all who are thinking of buying it

                              1) This phone is amazingly fast, Everything from camera speed, moving between screens, scrolling, internet, flash player is smooth, hardly any lag (Of course android is not ios)

                              2) This phone does not come with beats earphones, you only get the normal earphones which are pathetic. If you want the ibeats earphones then wait till May.

                              3) The screen of this phone is pretty good but Sony Xperia S has a better screen, Not by much but still if you take a close look the Xperia S has even better readability. Honestly ,It's marginal but if you love high quality screen- Xperia S

                              4) Camera- I clicked pics from both this and Xperia S (don't know about iphone 4S) and the clarity overall is better in Xperia S, but again it is marginal. If you are trully a photo buff you will see it, otherwise the difference is not that great but the noise was less with bit better colors on Xperia S.

                              5) However, the speed of the camera was faster on HTC. The biggest thing which i noticed was that Xperia S did lag a bit while zoom pinching in and out from web page and even on pics, it also was a bit slow in some apps. HTC ONE X had no lag, you could do everything from multitasking to rapidly taking pics, There is no lag whatsoever.

6)I cant say about battery as you need to use it at least for a week to make a decision.

                              7) Bottom line- HTC One X is a better phone, Sense 4.0 is better UI than Sony's,

The camera goes to xperia S but the speed of shpoting is higher in HTX ONE x and also burst mode is amazing.

The screen however goes to Xperia s as it has a better readability specially in webpages.

My advice- Wait for a month so that you can know about the battery life and also the 2nd edition of HTC ONE X with the earphones is launched. The price is around 700 US$.

According to the news - the fastest phone is Huawei Ascend D quad who claims to have the first 64 bit custom quad ARM processor - K3V2
His videocard is much faster than the Geforce ULP of Tegra 3 chip.
Too bad that all producers are so greedy - no one has put 2-4 GB ram in these phones, and the internal memory is maximum 32GB - why not 64/128 GB ?
Some Huawei phones have Amoled display - but not their flag. Commercial strategy for making their phone cheaper than the rivals.

Love it or hate it, to me One-X is the winner for today.. until a new device come and beat it as well.

-/+ No expandable memory: Not iPhone either (compare 32Gb version of iPhone 4S to be fair) besides you can use Android device in USB storage mode when connecting to PC and transfer whatever file from/to your computer.
-/+ No FM radio: Use internet radio, yo have more coverage with it and better sound quality (at most stations). On the other hand, i think this is due to lack of FM support in AOSP, meaning software.. guess it has hardware but not used. I will follow spirit FM devs to see if this is true or not, let's see.
                                    + Built quality
+ Super IPS LCD2 screen (compare to iPhones')
                                    + Camera
                                    + Audio
                                    + New Sense 4.0
Actually the only hesitation is battery life, this forces me to "wait and see". As understood from what i have read in some tech sites Li-po battery is not different from Li-ion in terms of last time, maybe total life cycle is kind a bit longer. Li-po is safer and more resistive against overload/overheating conditions, apparently that's the only reason why Li-po battery used, considering with non-removable battery (like iDevices.. they too use Li-po) i.e. it will not bring a longer durability with a 1800MAh

I haven't mentioned about the number of the cores.. I preferred 2+1 cores instead of 4+1 and with a better battery.

So.. despite all plusses above (and some more) I will also wait for a comprehensive expert review before make a decision. And, if sammy comes to play with groundbreaking news and releases GS-III no later than May/June, then I will definitely jump onto SG bandwagon. So.. hurry up HTC!!

I'm reading this and thinking, I'm over my phone now..(I have a Desire HD). The One X sounds amazing.
BUT I'm dismayed that this phone doesn't allow expandable memory. Why not?!
It's like computers: the more you can do, the more memory you'll use. Hopefully HTC change their mind about that.
As for Beats Audio, I always use my preferred headphones anyway, so I couldn't care less. From what I've read on Hi-fi forums, Beats 'phones are only about a third of the price, given their performance. And they're ugly as sin.

Lentan, 29 Feb 2012HTC needs to go in to partnership wid Mugen Power Batteries... moreFirstly, spelling and grammar. Secondly, that's only because the Sensation XE is a very powerful phone, and uses a lot of power to keep your phone looking epic at scrolling and stuff. Thirdly, how do you know the batteries are awesome of they haven't even come yet? Reviews can be faked, you know.
