Apple iPhone 5 vs. Samsung Galaxy S III: All rise

25 October 2012
When we review phones we try to put them in context, and tie everything up with a snapshot of the market and the closest alternatives. Now, we usually keep droids and iPhones separate because honestly they just don’t mix. But every now and then...

if i must pick a phone, i'll pick a phone that suit ny needs.
so, i'll definitely pick Galaxy S3, since it has all the features that i need.
    - good specs
    - native video call via 3G network
    - blue tooth file transfer
    - expandable storage
    - standard ports (micro USB & 3.5 jack).
    - freedom of choices
    - etc.

S3 obviously beat iP5 on the HDR shooting mode with fine detail (as compared to the watercolour look of iP5 HDR shoots....) The Panorama is also better in S3...iP5 panorama shoot have wrong exposure & look too dark in shadow area.
So, what is actually iP5 good at??? Marketing bullsh*t????

For me, i am into the iOS ecosysytem and i always loved apple products, and i even own a S3, screen size matters but sometime its really hard to carry that monstrous thing, while the iPhone 5 fits so easily, so for me iPhone is a better choice.

great work GSMArena... I love reading your reviews. I personally love the s3 (using it atm) but I'm glad there's unbiased comparisons like yours around.

One thing though, I think it would be better if instead of having winners at the end of each section, you could just let readers draw their own opinions from your facts. imo.

S3 build material is plastic but it survives much more longer than iPhone 5 in the blender. :]

I don't think you can award any extra points for iMessage, considering the SGS3 comes with not only ChatOn, but Google Talk, a cross platform messaging service that works through your gmail address. It's got a wider platform base, working on all Android devices, plus any computer that can access gmail (probably iOS too, but I've never looked).

Why not iphone5 vs note2? That's a more fair comparison since they are released at the same time?

I hope WP8 can do what these cant, and that is better business and personal integration. These mobiles are just a gaming, photo, maps, and video platforms, but where is the business integration. Maybe even look to the new BB. Someone has to get it right. I do not want to spend hours stuffing around on a complex interface, and spend hours customisation trying to make what is mobile device easier to use. I want less Social Network Integration and more business integration. As always, an excellent article from GSMarena.

Better might be to stick with iOS, since Android is about to get clobbered by WP8.
