Having read all sorts of reviews regarding build, performance etc, and passing judgment on a device that has not yet hit the market is lame. Wait, try and then judge. Regarding build why such hype and criticism over plastic?do all those I phones which have a frosted alu finish, do we see the back, are they not shielded by plastic covers(majority of them at least). If a device performs it will do well, and there is no doubt that this device has been made to perform. Good luck Samsung,

in Making 2 kinds of Cpu ( Exynos octa and Snapdragon ) would make the consumer confused ,. i probably suggest that samsung must stick to 1 kind cpu of each model device and to its chipset in order assure that the units that the consumer bought is expected to the high spec of Octa-core,.
And also it maybe nice if up coming galaxy S series must posses aliminum body for better design and durability,.

hovering function start showing its imperfection...it many times register it as touch...annoying very annoying .....htc ONE-wellcome

Two-three years ago, Android lagging was kind of a common secret, last year it was an annoying truth, this year, what with all the gigs of RAM and I don't know how many processors, it.is.simply.impressive.

The gestures are just a stupic gimmick, I can't believe that anyone thinks that those thinks works better and are easier than using your own hand. Also, this thing lagged a lot during the video, including in the web browser, that's just unbelievable than even with a OCTA CORE this thing lags like that. The sad part is, this thing sure will sell a lot.

I will get one. I wonder, how long it takes to charge that battery. When I had my GS3, it had a long charging time. The Iphone charges wery quick. No one testing that?

Shit...seriously, i mean even with octa cores it is f***in laggy. Don't get me wrong Sammy is gonna sell by the bucket loads n i don't see Apple innovating....but man all those gimmicks...super sad

Yes, design is a matter of taste.
Majority on blog sites and virtually every reviewer has commented at some point how the design of the S3 is uninspiring and generally disappointing. With time many became more excepting; very few have ever called it a good looking device. It's sold well because of it's features and, though not the best in all aspects, overall it was arguably the best smartphone for it's time.
It did not sell for it's design, and nor have the other Samsung devices that look similar (NoteII, G mini, etc...). If you wanted what it can do then you bought it as you had not choice - let's not kid ourselves to believe otherwise.
I've have/had SGS1,2 & 3. I would not have got S3 without the fact I got it free with my contract renewal. I like the phone, though am not crazy about it.
So as a manufacturer, when you have something that appears to be well received, you are VERY careful about changing it. You don't want to change something people 'like' and possibly create something they don't. Apple demonstrates this very well and has produced the best selling devices using this formula.
So Samsung has done same with S4. I will sell well because despite the very disappointing design, overall it ticks more boxes (hardware/feature wise)over it's rivals and S3 than S3 did at the time... and it's thinner, ligher, stronger, faster! Will it achieve expectation (100M sold)? - I doubt it, though it will get up there.
I think in 2013 Apple and Samsung will both (hopefully) learn a valuable lesson: loyalty can only be stretched so far - we'll stick by you with the occassional 'stuff up' as long as you get back on track next time. People demand better and will start voting with their wallets if they don't get it, especially when it's clear that 'better' IS possible because we can see the competition doing it!

Factories can finish 10 or more phone casing out of high grade plastic (polycarbonate) in the time it takes to cast and anodize one aluminum casing. So they try to speed it up (aluminum) to meet the demand (and keep up with competition who can grab their waiting customers). The result is flaky finish straight out of the box.

I think the sales record for all the Samsung phones that used this design speaks for it very well - quite loud and clear. Anyone else's opinion cannot beat that.

for me there is just one but.. Samsung really dont care about the design. Their phones are absolutely the worst when it comes to looks. It may appeal to others, but still all of their devics look exactly the same and not ina good way.
