At first this phone is really reliable and fast, never experienced any lag or hangs, but now it just has become a big pain in my ass! The camera doesn't launch anymore when I press the physical camera button, now it hangs even if Im only using maps, just now I had to restart it because of the same damn issue, my LG optimus p500 never hanged, it may have had some lagging issues but it never hanged, now this phone, which is dual core, can't even handle a simple task, using the maps app! It's really irritating, the photo gallery also lags like hell when i swipe from photo to photo, the pinch to see live widgets also lags like hell like all the time! Never was a time that it didn't lag on that part. The contacts and phone app also lags, the music app also lags, suddenly a few days a go i was experiencing my music stopping for no reason while playing. Im really disappointed with this phone now! LG may be stupid at updating their phones softwares but at least they never lag, the hell my alarm clock sometimes lag as well, im woken up by my alarm not because it's loud but because I can't turn it off because my damn phone just hanged and I can't turn off my alarm, what the hell!!!

You can also look at some newer Xperia models if you need SD card (16 GB suites me fine).

AnonD-68375, 25 Feb 2013You can always wait for something new and better, but what'... moreI had Nokia E5 but it was broken. And I've been 5 month with an old and I really need to upgrade. But I don't wanna spend money and regret it. That's why I'm asking if it's good enough. So, what's your opinion ? Is it good, or is there something for the same price that is better ?

I got this phone couple of weeks ago and i can simply say that its everything i wanted. Just one thing tho, i wish that the battery will last longer. However its very "understandable". :-)

Does anyone get homescreen lag issue on ur Xperia P when using Enchanted Forest live wallpaper? I use only 3 widgets Walkman widget, Clock widget and Recent calls widget all from Sony and when I slide through the homescreen it lags. If I use just Normal wallpaper it lags but very little n sudden lag, thats hardly noticeable. So ne one out there facing it?

AnonD-65044, 24 Feb 2013This kernel is for CM Roms, for Stock roms (or stock based ... moreLexter... That is called a 'Kernel'. It's that part of the phone that serves as the intermediate between hardware and software. It's the kernel that allows an OS like Android (and the apps installed on it) to activate or control hardware parts like Camera, GPS, screen, antenna etc etc. If a kernel is corrupt or is not made fully compatible then certain things like camera n speakers might stop working.
Now, about that particular kernel you mentioned, its meant for a custom Rom known as CyanogenMod. Every custom Rom has an associated kernel that helps it to fully sync with the phone's hardware. For you its of no use because you dont have a custom Rom (in this case, CyanogenMod 9). Although it's possible to use it on a phone that runs an original Sony rom, but it might render some hardware components useless (or not function properly).
Both custom Rom and custom kernel needs an unlocked bootloader. If you are interested then I will teach you. But it will remove your phone's warranty. Although warranty is an useless thing (if you know how to use FlashTool), having an unlocked device will allow you to fully release the phone's inner potential. Depending on what kernel or Rom you use, you might end up with a phone thats two times faster or ten times slow. So be careful before choosing custom roms.
In short, if you aren't a guy who knows what he is doing..... better stay away from the world of custom roms. It needs time to learn how to use them and even more to be able to fully handle the change.

You can install it on your Xperia P if your phone is root-ed and your bootloader is unlocked. You can check bootlader status via official Sony pages (search for it), and rooting procedure is described on xda-forum.

Please note that you can 'brick' your phone if you make mistake while doing this procedure, so if you are not comfortable with computers, smartphone etc. don't rush into it.
