Xiaomi tipped to replace MIUI with MiOS

Xiaomi and its MIUI Android interface have been synonymous since 2010. MIUI now boasts a global user base of over 564 million monthly active users and the latest version out is MIUI 14 which was announced last December. It seems Xiaomi is looking for a change with the next iteration of its custom interface as reliable tipster Digital Chat Station is confident that Xiaomi will replace MIUI with an all-new MiOS.

It remains to be seen if MiOS will simply be another Android overlay UI like MIUI or if Xiaomi is actually developing a new mobile operating system. Previous rumors suggest that Xiaomi is looking to follow in Huawei’s footsteps by launching its own Android Open Source Project (AOSP) based operating system which will be available on its smartphones, tablets, wearables and even Xiaomi’s electric vehicles.

Xiaomi already trademarked the MiOS name and mios.cn domain in China and there have been several reports of a MiOS developer beta circulating on Chinese media.

It's not the ugly named OS on MI as MiOS but actually named HyperOS which is a cool good name suggesting something real better in OS than just name change and that for heavens they ditched that "weird everything MI" moniker
