It depends on what you are looking for. Do you want touch-screen or traditional keypad? Will you be using the internet a lot? Do you want it for apps and games or just to text and make calls?

Anonymous, 15 Jul 2011does alcatel ot 710d support 3d games?Yes, the OT-710 does support 3D Java games but you may find they run slowly as the phone's processor is not the fastest in the world. However, there are loads of great Java games out there that run well on the OT-710. OT-710 will install Java (.jar) files.

worst ... touch! really!!!! The person who sold (at Big-Bazar, ameerpet, hyderabad), he himself dont know the features. All the specifications that he said is wrong. SAR = 0.6 (Actual = 1.1), Capacitive(Actual = Resistive), 1000mAH (Actual ~ 850mAH). I am not at all satisfied with this.

Anonymous, 12 Jul 2011What about MP4 format?I have not managed to get my OT-710 to play MP4 files. I contacted Alcatel support and they said that some models of the phone will play MP4/M4A/AAC etc and some will not. I think it depends where you purchase the phone. They said 'One Touch Upgrade' will not fix this problem.

Pros:
1.Not expensive.
2.One touch access to many SNS.
3.Large display.
4.Good toch sensitivity even though a resistive touch screen.
5.Great many features for a really affordable price.
Cons:
1.Very poor camera quality when compared to other mobiles with 2MP camera.
2.Grains are seen when photo is transferred to computer.
3.I tried to play video files converted to mobile format.But the mobile device showed me an error message 'Falied to open'.

If you do get these encoding settings to work you will find that the audio quality is pretty poor and in mono. I emailed Alcatel and believe it or not they replied, saying that only some OT-710s support stereo video (AAC/MP3) and MP4 file formats. However, it does mean that if you're encoding full movies the file sizes are pretty small. Let us know how it goes!

I've used Any Video Converter but with no success, mp4 or 3gp at 320x240 and 176x144. "Failed to open" is all I got. It was frustrating I'll tell you. I'll give your suggestion a try and let you know the outcome, cheers.

I am using 'Freemake Video Converter' which is freeware from www.freemake.com
and produces pretty good video quality and is quite stable.
I have only managed to get .3gp file extension to work. MP4 with different
codecs will not play on phone.
File Type: 3gp
Frame Size: 320x240 or 160x120
Video Codec: MPEG4
Frame Rate: 12fps
Bitrate: 50kbps for 320x240 or 100kbps for 160x120
Audio Codec: AMR
Channels: Mono
Sample Rate: 8000Hz
Bitrate: 12Kbps
NB: Two Pass encoding is slower but results in better image quality.
