I purchased 806D one few days back.
Pros- great look
powerful WI-FI
most importantly -low radiation level (SAR Value)
Cons-
pathetic earphones
low quality camera both video and still

I've updated my firmware and now I can't even send text messages! I can only send one word message! How do I downgrade my firmware? Please help.

this phone is great...having lots of fun.. and great speed on wifi.. but main drawback of this phone is "updation of palringo" i don't know why palringo is not providing certificates(thawte and verisign) eventhough all apps work in this phone without any certificate..

I am greatly impressed with some of the opinion. However, I own an Alcatel OT-806D. How do I get the widget like in the pic? It's nowhere to be found! And my UI isn't the same

It's a great phone.I have it for 2 months now and I'm very satisfied.
Battery is very strong and lasts a lot,even when playing music a lot and heavy browsing.
OPERA MINI can be upgraded,i upgraded it to OPERA MINI 6.Visit opera's download page and select more download options and in the list you'll find more versions and at the bottom of that page you will find download with certificates.select it and then select any language you want and download it.It will automatically replace the old version.BUT,there's a catch.YOU WILL NEED TO DISABLE THE DEFAULT TOUCH SCREEN KEYPAD IN ORDER TO USE THE QWERTY.Go to the opera icon-settings-scroll down and select advanced-Opera keyboard-select to NEVER.Then go back and everything will be perfect.
JAVA APPS can be found on MOBILE9.COM and similar pages,select the model and download.some apps may not work properly but many will.

iam very confused
i want to buy one of two fones alcatel 806 & samsung star 5230w.
if anyone tried both fones i want to ask if there is difference between the two fones in:
1- wifi signal strength and which is better
2- ring&sound volume and which is louder
3- battery life and which has longer one
4- touch response and which is more responsive specially both have resistive touchscreen
i need only confirmed informations and will be very thankful

I recently upgraded my OT806D firmware using Alcatel PC Suite. It was easy to restore the Phonebook and Multimedia since I'd made a backup through PC Suite, I'm unable to figure out how to restore the SMSs which saved as a CSV file, again using PC Suite? BTW PC Suite offers no other means to backup SMSs from the phone, or at least I haven't been able to find it (yet.) Thanks in advance.
