Well the way I see it, it seems that there are different versions of this phone floating around... a couple seem to have more problems and others seems perfectly fine... could be due to older firmware or pre-production versions. Anyway I well tell you how mine is when my beauty arrives ;).

MPU:
That's real cool to wake-up with the favorite FM radio station. Another innovation from the chinese, I think.
But it's a pitty there are all other bugs and the poor official support.

Bought this phone about a month ago and I have only regrets.
The phone tends to freeze up, and at times even reboot, the software is the worst i have seen to date, 1st when you recieve a text message you reciave it to your sim card and you would have to move it manualy to your phone if you wanna save it, on the other hand pressing see C. will alow you to delete sounds & pictures, but apararently not text messages. if you set the alarm i will only ring for about 1 min. even if you set a an mp3 to play that last several minutes. that simply isn't enough to get me out of bed.
With the phone comes some software wich if generally ok, not great, but ok. there is also a link to a Homepage were you should be able to update your software, but that software aparently doesn't exist, and acording to the official alcatel sites, neigther does this phone.
But I will say this, it takes ok pictures for a phone, the radio works perfectly, when the MP3 doesn't cut out it's ok aswell, and the internal speakers are dare i to say excelent.
which all brings me to my concluesion: GIVE ME A SOFTWARE UPDATE! please...
It could save the phone from meeting a sledgehammer...

Yeas! Just great.. for it's price the phone is realy good one! But it's limited production and celling in markets.. no advertise since cebit 2005. After that every one "foggeted" the model until now,1 year after his creation.. A lot of conspiration and so on.. But they can't dissapeared the model totaly,so it would be mine soon I guess..
THWS I want to ask you something. Your s853 white or black is? It's interesting owners what colour have. Because I have the feeling that the 2 colours have differences somehow..(expect the colour:D) Maybe wrong, maybe not:P In both cases the phone is dam cool!:)

What really surprised me is that you can wake up with the favorite radio station. Meaning, you can put an FM station as a "ringtone" for the alarm. Funny, useful though.

No - no problems with FM Radio. It only works if the Remote-Control is connected, yes. But you could choose the option that the Speakers at the phone play the radio-programm.

Did you have problems with the FM Radio?
It works only when the headset is connected?
Does it work also with the bluetooth device?

I have heard from hotline that it supports 1 gb, and from (Danish) tech support that it supports only 512 mb - what gives? Who has this phone and tried working above the 512 mb limit?
