Hello! I adore this phone since it was published here and I'm saving money for it :) Now is almoast here, it's even more perfect and I'll go across the world just to buy it :). (couse I'm using Alcatel phones I guess forever. They are sooooo perfect, and durable)

Art ! phone should work good as a phone !!! who cares abt. camera ? it has got loudspeakers !!!! u wont miss any call n that's one of the strongest point of a good cell phone ! it has EDGE, Push to Talk ! 10MB internal memory is enough for phone itself to use !. For mass media storage external cards upto 1GB are there !!! moreover price is also reasonable !

Its tru , You don't need a Camera on Mobile phone , its better to buy a digital camera With 8mp , and a phone has To Ring , Its better to buy a Phone with Good loudspeaker

Iko, you're right! Who cares about the camera? Anyway, you can't print that photos (in quality you get with real digital camera)

How do you sick Alcatel Fans can compare this with k750, when the camera of this thing SUCKS compared to the king of mobile phone cameras???

The (almost) perfect phone...
One minor problem... only 176 x 220 resolution :( 240 x 320 would've been much better.

I've had the pleasure of beta testing this phone for a couple of weeks. I must admit, Alcatel got this one right. Recent aditions to the Alcatel GSM family (like the 757) have been great improvements.. but still far from greatness. The 853 is THE phone from Alcatel TCL. The audio quality is FANTASTIC, processor is strong and capable, style is wonderful, controls are right where you want them.. and the phone really performs. The only negative feedback I can offer is a bit silly, but it really pissed me off when I found it. This phone.. HAS NO MUTE!! If you try to use it for business (or with more than one girlfriend in your life) and you need to mute your end of the conversation because you're in the car or on a train or in a cafe.. you're in trouble. $500 phones should have mute!!! With any luck, TCL will return this feature to Alcatel's well developed software.

guys,
i have the chance to test this mobile..
The only bad point is the camera although personnaly i find that 1.3Megapixel is enough but comparing to competitor, it is not good..
But all others features are wonderful....
MP3 reader : wonderful, especially with a 512 Mb miniSD
Radio : extra nice!!
so sure it will be released in few weeks..

It looks Alcatel will try to bounce back in Mobile segment and alcatel must be.I n previous mobile Alcatel strenth was strong signal capability, Excellent battery performance, Low price, Light weight,simply economical. Alcatel never thought to enter into the market compitetion but now its look like a good entry. lets see
Good Luck ALcatel come on too much for Nokia and Sony Ericson now your turn and why not.

Hi to everybody,
we've been waiting for this phone for several month in Russia. Nobody knows the exact date of launch and price but forecast is end of October-November at 300-320 USD (SE 750i in Russia-Moscow is 500 USD).
Does anyone already use it, tell the touch-feeling from the body? Is it better than Sendo X which I use know because my OT715 was broken by daughter?

The announced retail price in France will be 299 euros.

The phone is going to be released soon for sure. In fact a few magasines in France have already tested it. In general they say it's a good phone. The sound is good. The screen is okay. The camera is a disapointment. As the magasine compared it to the SE W800, they said the OT S853 was loosing because of the disapointing camera.
Personally, given the price (and the fact that I already have a digicam) I'm waiting for this phone to be released.
ps: the phone is now all black (kind of looking like the K750)
