Firmware versions can be checked by looking at the product sticker on the back of the phone under the battery. There should be a figure similar to 169,171,188 or 18b (or atleast in this formation "1XX"). Firmwares can not be updated on your own, due to mistakes that are common with private updating. If the phone is still under warranty the update should be done for free if there is a valid reason for it (software errors).

Hi! I bought this phone almost a year ago, and I still love it. i heard that a firmware update was released. I don't know where can I download it. I don't want to pay a lot for it in the shop, that's why I want to update my phone myself. if anyone has a link pls share the info with me. Thx guys!

Saurabh, this phone supports any brand of MINI SD memory card. It's impossible to believe that a mini sd card can't be fit in this phone except if you insert it in a wrong way. You can download the driver or the updated PC Suite in www.my-onetouch.com.

I purchased this phone over a year back, it is supplied with OT-PC Suite4 software, but this software does not get loaded on PC. Please provide a web-link so that I can down-load the same from the site, as it is imperative for me to have a phone data back-up. Also I did not get the additional memory card (mini SD)with it, and when i found the same, it does not fit.

Still the best jukebox I ever have in my life.It's a shame that Alcatel dont produce this kind of phones.I beat that even Nokia don't have the phones with the ability to be a JUKEBOX,like 853.

The bass speaker is located behind the screen, its sound comes out of the hole where you put your ear on when calling someone.

this phone has 2.1 surround speaker as it says, 2 tweeters and 1 bass..but where is the bass?..is it the one above the infrared sensor?

Charging the OT S853 through the computer's USB is possible !
I don't know if it has already been said here (I don't want to read 110 pages back !)
I found it out accidently.
In fact, to connect my phone to the computer, I have a USB cable comming from a portable 2,5" disk drive.
On the computer side this cord has two USB (type A) connectors. The second don't transmit any data, but can help in case there is not enough energy to power the disk drive on just one USB port.
I wanted to transmit some data between the computer and the phone, but, juste awaken, I connected the false USB connector (the one wich doesn't transmit data) on the computer.
The phone beeped in the same manner as when you connect the charger, and yes, the phone is charging now, while I type this message !
