I think getjar.com is dangerous. Does it have a virus. I can't trust their softwares for my phone.

OT S853 is higher than the models mentioned in getjar but just choose OT 756 for this model.

iwontworry, if your unit have 18b firmware you will no longer encounter problems that you have encountered with firmware version 164, 169 or 177.

regie, You can rename all photos in your S853 except those photos that have padlock icon as they are the protected images and therefore cannot be modified. To rename your pictures just go to media album, choose "My Images", choose "Options" by pressing the left soft key and choose "Rename".

iwontworry, it's nice to know that you have your phone with you now and is uploaded with the latest firmware. Versatile have uploaded your unit with 18b firmware version. Changing or replacing the sticker at the back is not so important for them. Enjoy with your phone.

iwontworry, the firmware that versatile have uploaded to your unit is 18b. It is no longer important for them to replace the sticker but you can really observe the difference between your phone's performance now than it was before. Just don't forget to post ifever you will still have questions or you can e-mail me at nelson_maus@yahoo.com. And since you are in Manila, I hope you can ask globe about the command in activating globe gprs/mms. In smart, you only have to type GPRS ON and send to 333. How about in globe. hi my phone is back from a charger replace and firmware upgrade.
thank you to versatile company in roxas boulevard manila. they really give their customers satisfactory service.
and also to nelson and knightrider, thanks for the infos. maybe i have now the 18b firmware im not only sure if it is becuase the sticker at the back of my phone still have the 177 label on it. but i noticed a little difference in my phone like the screen on/off command.

regie, you can do it as you want. In my case I have installed Quran (Muslim's bible) reader and it is installed successfully. Quran reader is for J2ME phone like this. I also installed J2ME games and they run without problem.

i am planning to install my OT-S853 with an ebook reader. is it ok? especially the ReadManiac ebook reader. it says it runs on J2ME phones which is capable of running midlets. but the OT-s853 is MIDP 2.0 and does not notify if it is a J2ME phone. however MIDP 2.0 can also run midlets. is it ok? i havent tried it yet. but i am planning. would it destroy my phone if ever? pls help. tnx

I have not tried converting any videos. I have just downloaded them from the net and that those videos that I have downloaded whether longer or shorter than five minutes are being played perfectly. I don't know about its details whether it is 176 X 144 etc. But I will try to convert videos and will update you in a few days.
