There is no need for anybody to worry about the dictionary's automatic capturing of words from inbox, outbox and from any words you type when browsing web site. No need to delete the words one by one. Just reset the phone every two months or according to your preference and only the GPRS/MMS settings will remain in the phone. Data in memory card and sim card are still 100 % intact.

I knew it, I'm not the only one with the dictionary problem. most probably everyone will experience this sooner or later. But at least there is the ever reliable reset to factory method. I advise anyone before returning their unit to their service center, to try and look for alternative solutions, more often than not it will really take a month before they process the returned item.

iwontworry, I wish you should have been posting your problem here first before you surrender your unit as it will really take month or two for you to get it back. Upgrading your firmware version from 177 to 188 or 18b only takes few minutes. The other problem of your phone which is about charging may have been fixed by just resetting your unit to factory settings (just by typing ###847#) and/or by using motorola L6 or L7 charger. They're compatible. I believe L6 charger is available in your place. But now that you sent it back to versatile, you really have to wait for them to return the unit to you. Just make a follow-up so that they will attend to it immediately and might send it back to you in a short period of time.
To other owner/s of S853 who may have problem with their unit, try to post your problem here first before sending it back to the store where you bought it. Knight Rider and I and other alcatelers might be able to help you.

its me again. this is my fourth post. the first three post are all praises for the beautiful and elegan unit ot s853.
but for this time im really at the down mood. one morning my phone wont turn on. if i turn it on it reads "charge your phone, extreme low battery" then it turns off imidiately.
i tried to charge it using my alcatel charger but it wont charge. i tried to find a person who have the same celphone so i could check if whats wrong with my phone but unfortunately, i was the only one who have the phone here in baguio.
so using my one year warranty, i returned back the phone in sm baguio where i bought the phone. ironically they dont have unit stock for alcatels anymore so they wouldnt know whats wrong with my phone. so i dedided to avail my warranty and let my phone sent back in versatile.
it would be so irony if the phone's defect is only in charger or at the battery. i am really mad because the store informed me that i can get back on my phone after a month or two. and that is too long. ill be leaving the city after the holy week and i have to carry my phone with me.
if there are people here who are from versatile can i ask if i can have the phone earlier than one month. i surrenderred my phone last march 16.
and can i have the upgrade of firmware since mine is 177. the dictionary really hangs my phone often. i want to delete it.
and of course, i miss my phone. ive been fasting myself out of celcommunication for a week and its killing me. the phone is really great especially the speakers.. the sound quality.
all my family had gone to n series of nokia but i refused to buy those products. having an alcatel makes me unique and different from others. but sadly i didnt check the defect of my phone since no one is using the unit here in my place.
there are fake chargers here but i wont risk my phone. i tried to find original batteries or charger for the phone but all stores ran out of stock...
help.

bert, OT S853's bluetooth is only for headset. If you want to transfer files, infrared is there for you but I advice you to use card reader in dowloading files because its the safest and fastest way.
To solve your other problem, reset your phone by typing this number ###847#. This will return the phone to factory settings.

and one more thing, everytime i select dictionary my phone just hang and i just have to remove the battery.There is a time that it will just switch off and sometimes restart.

I purchased tis phone coz i really like the sound but i have a problem with the bluetooth feature of this phone. Everytime I try to transfer file or connect with other phone such as nokia phone there is this pop up that they need to key in a password. Connecting with other cellphone using bluetooth always failed. someone please help me and let me understand this. thanks

Karlo, try to check if your unit has 18b or higher firmware. If it don't, take it to versatile and have it reloaded with 18b firmware. Just take out the battery and the firmware version can be seen above the sim card slot. If it has 18b firmware, reset the phone by going to the main screen and type the following reset code ==> ###847#. Please be reminded that typing this code will erase all data in the phone like diary, directory, to do list, alarm, appointment, sent items and words in the dictionary. SMART, GLOBE and SUN CELLULAR GPRS/MMS settings will not be deleted. Contents in your memory card and the directory in your sim card will not be deleted too. need help guyz, im from philippines, I had this phone for less than a 3months, i have a problem sending and receiving text messages, when Im sending text message there is a popup warning like this ("Out of Memory. Unable to Send"). but my Inbox and sent folders are all empty and my phone memory is 80% free of space. please help me guyz..

Check if the unit has 18b or higher firmware. That is written on the upper left part of IMEI number when you take out the battery.
