My phone just erased all my friends (contacts) on my cellphone (not sim card)
I dont know why: it said something like: Invalid Operation (when I tried to enter a new contact)
then, I was gonna call a friend, and no numbers where in the phone =|
OMG!

TTThunder,
To be honest with you, I have not tried using lotus organizer 5.0 so I have nothing to say. Sorry. But don't worry, Knight Rider will tell your more about this.

Nelson,
Thanks for your advices...
I have another question that would like advices..
I managed to save the contacts from OT735 to lotus organizer 5.0 (with 4 fields only: name, lastname, mobile number and category (directory name)).
However, when I tried to use intellisync to copy this file to the new S853, I found the following message when I tried to change the field mapping:
The changes you requested to the table were not successful because they would create duplicate values in the index, primary key or relationship.
Change the data in the field or fileds that contain duplicate data, remove the index or redefine the index to permit duplicate entries and try again..
Even if I use the default field mappings, I still get the above error!
(This looks like a bug... But one thing I notice is that I cannot find category (directory name) in the field mapping of intellsync of S853...)
Thanks for any advices..

The bluetooth only works for phone calls... so no it does not work as an mp3 headset... at least I don't think it does... quite honestly I have not tried it... one thing is sure... the bluetooth is not stereo... so that would add to the theory that the function you would want is not supported... however have a look at the new Alcatel slide phone (C-8XX series) they all support high speed stereo bluetooth even during mp3 playback!

TTThunder, OT S853 really does not display clock when it is inactive because it is designed to save the battery when not in use. There is no way to enable it to show the clock when not in use like OT 735.
All contents in S853 like images, videos, m4a, midi, etc. can be deleted except those that have "padlock" icon because they are locked and there is no way to delete them.
Even if you don't delete the unlock preloaded items, S853 provides more than 8 MB memory for you and for me this is enough for your diary entry.

Hi,
.
I just bought the phone yesterday... (I plan to buy the new sliding, but Alcatel said that they do not plan to import any new model not CDMA...)
.
Have something that I'd like your advices:
.
1. My OT735 shows clock when it is inactive, but S853 does not show anything (black screen)...
.
How can I enable S853 to show clock like 735?
.
2. I'd like to delete almost everything pre-loaded in the phone memory, but I cannot delete some of them since it is locked...
.
How can I unlock it?
.
(I'd like to reserve phone memory for diary function only + something that really needs to be in phone memory eg. atmosphere setting, ...)
.
Thank you!

Thanks Knight Rider.
To dotorn, reset your phone by typing ###847# and choose "Yes" when prompted. When phone finished resetting, it displays the default atmosphere. Now turn it off, insert your 1GB mini sd card then turn it on again and it should read your 1 gb mini sd card. If it don't read then try to use another 1 gb mini sd card from your friend as there may be problem with you memory card. If you still have problem, get in touch with me at nelson_maus@yahoo.com.

Let me answer your questions this way:
1.my fone hangs and automatically restarts
Ans. Check if your unit has 188 or 18b firmware version. Just take take out the battery and it is written on the upper left side of IMEI number. As far as I know, stocks in wellcom and other stores other than RC Goldline are not updated. Other stores are still selling S853 with 128 mb mini sd. These are the units with firmware version lower than 188b. (S853 with 256 mb mini sd in stores are those that have 18b firmware version). Ifever this is your case, just take your phone to versatile and have it reloaded with the latest firmware. But before you do that, try to reset your phone as this maybe the solution of your problem. Just type ###847# and choose "Yes" when the phone prompts that it will return to factory settins.
2.how will i know what firmware version my fone is?
Ans. Again, take out the battery and the firmware version is written on the upper left side of the IMEI number.
3.my inbox contains one message but it's already full....shouldn't the sim card's memory responsible for the messages in my inbox or the messages in my inbox still occupies my fone memory..what about the archived messages??where is it placed?? on the phone memory or sim card's memory?
Ans. Message in your inbox does not use phone's memory. It's using sim card memory. Archived messages are stored in phone's memory. This problem will be solved by, again, typing ###847#.
4.i was able to read one of the opinions that states that we dont have to worry anymore about the automatic capturing of the dictionary to whatever you text.how can i restart?? what will happen if i restarted my phone??what will be erased?? is it only the words in the dictionary or including the messages in my archive?
Ans. Resetting your phone to factory settings will erase the following:
1. all words in the dictionary.
2. all data in your diary or to do list.
3. all items in your "sent folder", "unsent
folder and archived messages folder.
4. all fm stations settings.
5. Colour or atmosphere that you previously
set as your preference.
6. Ringtones, message alert tones that you
set as your preference.
Smart GPRS/MMS, Globe GPRS/MMS and Sun MMS settings will not be deleted. All items in your memory card and sim card will remain 100% intact.
Your 5th question is answered above.
If you still have problem, don't hesitate to e-mail me at nelson_maus@yahoo.com.

4.i was able to read one of the opinions that states that we dont have to worry anymore about the automatic capturing of the dictionary to whatever you text.how can i restart?? what will happen if i restarted my phone??what will be erased?? is it only the words in the dictionary or including the messages in my archive?

a, you're wrong. mp3 or any other music (mp3, poly tones, etc.) from memory card can be used as ringtone, message alert tone or even alarm tone. Any music from phone memory can be used as ringtone, message alert tone or alarm tone. Please be honest.

you can use anyringtone as message tone BUT that soumd must be in phone memory. cant use sth from card, just ringtone can be from card.
After several months of using: phone is good but we need several firmware updates (alcatel take another 3 years to finish this haha) and it will be ok, maybe

Easy, go to the tone you would like to turn into your alert tone... go to options then select "set as" then choose the type of tone you want to set the sound as... and voila... you're done.

Bert, just go to media album and from there choose the sound from your memory card or from the phone that you want to be your message alert tone. And if you want a soft copy of the OT S853 english manual, just e-mail me at nelson_maus@yahoo.com and I'll provide you.
