pelikan, in page 45 of the manual you can see that there is zoom function (there should be zoom function in your phone. However, in the lower left corner of the page you can see a footnote proper saying the zoom function depends upon the language your phone has. so, I guess Russian language or any language other than English (like Chinese or those language that does not use letter/s in Roman Alphabet does not have zoom function. Otherwise, you must go to the store where you buy it and ask why is it so. Again, OT S853 have zoom function and it is found on page 45.

There sure is no ZOOM option in DISPLAY menu or anywhere else on my 853 :((( All the other options are present except zoom.
Firmware is 18b russian.
Maybe this is because of poor firmware localisation?

Saw this cp in while at the mall, currently looking for a great phone with less cost? Its cost really cheap does anyone recommend it? Problem I don't know what problems the alcatel brands bring why their products are cheap.. But I really like this one and it looks good too

This phone does have a zoom option... it should be found under options and then display...
The firmware version can be checked by removing the battery and reading the back sticker of the phone... it should read a 3 or 4 digit code, like: 166,169,172,179,182, 188, 18b etc...
Owww and Nokia software perfect? Sure... and I am David Hasselhoff... LOL and to be honest this Alcatel gives the Sony Walkman phones a good run for their money, the stereo sound on the phone is stunning... Sony could learn a thing or two... but that is just my opinion.

common alcatel , i can do better job your phone designs looks nice but lacks features like functional bluetooth and microSD and bug-free software if only you do a software like nokia , high quality sound like SE and bright screens like samsung , and alot of features like siemens you would be on top.

I bought OT853 here in russia, firmware 18b russian. But there is no Zoom option in Display menu so i have only default size interface text. Letters are too big in my opinion :(

Help!I have just bought this model from hong kong,and all the instuction manual is in chinese and the phone language is on chinese,which is not good as I am in England and cannot read chinese.Does anybody know where I can get or download an English user manual?Or know how to get it on English?
This is the best looking phone I have ever had,just wish I could use it!

Firstofall - you have to test your headset on the another phone. If it still hidden, then, Terry, you have to read your's Motorola's manual and try to reset the headset to the factory settings and then connect it again

Terry, did you change something on your headset, some codes or something? Also try to delete the default device setting stored in your phone and try to "refind" the headset, maybe you changed something in the headset... does the phone switch the bluetooth off normaly or does it refuse to switch it off? If so it needs an update. Let me know.

Hi, my OT-S853 has just started to refuse to connect to my bluetooth headset ( Motorola H700 ) it was ok for a few weeks, and now it refuses to connect, i have turned the phone on and off a few times and even removed and cleaned all cards and battery contact points, but it still will not connect to the headset ??? this headset is working perfectly with my Motorola E398. any ideas please... terry

Firmware
Unfortunately in Romania i don't know where to find an office where to make this firmware update. The phone was a gift received from France, and I'm convinced that this phone are not available here.
I can asumme that risk becouse is not the firts time when I make this update by myself.(not for Alcatel phones). It will be verry helpfull if I can find it. Thank you.cxxc@gmx.net

Saver could you please make a picture of the back of your phone or an invoice to verify your software version and send it to my mail un112@msn.com, but yes it does seem you have got the very latest version.
And no you can not download the latest firmware version and install it yourself (legaly) this is done to prevent unrepairable damage to the phone in case your pc would crash or you would get a power outing interrupting with your update and thus rendering the phone useless.
1 GB cards work fine on the newer firmware versions like 180, 182, 188 and 18b etc... The fact that some versions only show 312 or so mb does not mean the card does not work. The phone just does not show the 1 GB as a result of a tiny bug that can be fixed in the near future perhaps, eitherway the card should work fine.

I think the last version is 018v . Is it Knight Rider?
I am from Bulgaria and my service center put 018v version on my S853
